Abstract

In this study, the information‐theoretic measures in both the position and momentum spaces for the pseudoharmonic potential using Fisher information, Shannon entropy, Renyi entropy, Tsallis entropy, and Onicescu information energy are investigated analytically and numerically. The results obtained are applied to some diatomic molecules. The Renyi and Tsallis entropies are analytically obtained in position space using Srivastava–Niukkanen linearization formula in terms of the Lauricella hypergeometric function. Also, they are obtained in the momentum space in terms of the multivariate Bell polynomials of Combinatorics. We observed that the Fisher information increases with n in both the position and momentum spaces, but decreases with for all the diatomic molecules considered. The Shannon entropy also increases with increasing n in the position space and decreases with increasing . The variations of the Renyi and Tsallis entropies with are also discussed. The exact and numerical values of the Onicescu information energy are also obtained, after which the ratio of information‐theoretic impetuses to lengths for Fisher, Shannon, and Renyi are obtained. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Quantum information‐theoretic measures for the static screened Coulomb potential

Cecilia N. Isonguyo, K. J. Oyewumi, Opeyemi S. Oyun

Abstract In this research work, the quantum information‐theoretic analysis of the static screened Coulomb potential has been carried out by studying both analytically and numerically the entropic measures, Fisher information as well as the Onicescu information energy of its wave function. Explicit expressions of these information‐theoretic measures were obtained. Using the Srivastava–Daoust linearization formula in terms of the multivariate Lauricella hypergeometric function, the Rényi entropy, Tsallis entropy, Onicescu information energy were analytically obtained. From the results obtained, it is observed that some of the Shannon entropies are negative, indicating that, negative entropies exists for the probability densities that are highly localized. The trends in the variation of the information‐theoretic measures with the potential screening parameter a for this atomic model are discussed. The Bialynicki‐Birula, Mycielski inequality (BBM), and the Fisher information based uncertainty relation are also verified.

Determination of probability density, position and momentum uncertainties, and information theoretic measures using a class of inversely quadratic Yukawa potential

Etido Patrick Inyang, Asmae El Aouami, Norshamsuri Ali +3 more

This study utilizes the Nikiforov-Uvarov method to solve the Schrödinger equation for the class of inversely quadratic Yukawa potential (CIQYP), deriving both the energy equation and the normalized wave function. Shannon entropy and Fisher information in both position and momentum spaces are analyzed for low-energy states using the wave function. The Bialynicki-Birula-Mycielski and Stam-Cramer-Rao inequalities are satisfied for the Shannon and Fisher information entropies, illustrating the complementary uncertainties inherent in position and momentum in quantum mechanics. The study underscores the interplay between position and momentum Fisher entropies, reinforcing the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, which imposes limits on the precise simultaneous measurement of conjugate variables. Eigenvalues of the CIQYP for three diatomic molecules (N₂, O₂, and NO) are obtained using their respective data, revealing that the bound state energy spectra of these diatomic molecules increase as both the principal quantum number and angular momentum quantum number rise. Expectation values were numerically determined, and the potential model simplifies to the Kratzer potential under specific boundary conditions, thereby ensuring analytical accuracy. The energy spectra of diatomic molecules such as I₂ and CO are examined, showing that for a fixed principal quantum number, the energy spectrum increases with increasing angular momentum quantum number, in very good agreement with previously obtained results using different analytical methods.

Information entropies for the Morse potential using the J-matrix method

Mohamed S. Abdelmonem, Afaf Abdel‐Hady, Ibraheem M. Nasser

Information entropies, such as Shannon, Fisher and Rényi entropies, with their associated quantities, are calculated and discussed for the Morse potential in the position ( r ) and momentum ( p ) spaces using the J-matrix method. The entropies, for the s-wave, are numerically obtained for the diatomic molecules H 2 and LiH. It is the first information entropy calculation for real diatomic molecules using the Morse potential. Interesting characteristic features of the entropy densities are shown, where the position and momentum space information entropies satisfy the uncertainty relations.

Information Entropies for H2 and ScF Diatomic Molecules with Deng- Fan-Eckart Potential

P. O. Amadi, A. N. Ikot, U. S. Okorie +3 more

In this study, the Shannon entropy and the Fisher information is investigated with molecular Deng-Fan-Eckart potential for the diatomic molecules and ScF in position and momentum spaces in three dimensions for the ground and the excited states. The results were numerically obtained for diatomic molecules. Localization is observed for Shannon entropy and delocalization for Fisher information for both molecules in the position and momentum spaces. The uncertainty relations for the selected diatomic molecules were satisfied accordingly.

One-dimensional pseudoharmonic oscillator: classical remarks and quantum-information theory

O. Olendski

Abstract Motion along semi-infinite straight line in a potential that is a combination of positive quadratic and inverse quadratic functions of the position is considered with the emphasis on the analysis of its quantum-information properties. Classical measure of symmetry of the potential is proposed and its dependence on the particle energy and the factor a describing a relative strength of its constituents is described; in particular, it is shown that a variation of the parameter a alters the shape from the half-harmonic oscillator (HHO) at a = 0 to the perfectly symmetric one of the double frequency oscillator (DFO) in the limit of huge a . Quantum consideration focuses on the analysis of information-theoretical measures, such as standard deviations, Shannon, Rényi and Tsallis entropies together with Fisher information, Onicescu energy and non–Gaussianity. For doing this, among others, a method of calculating momentum waveforms is proposed that results in their analytic expressions in form of the confluent hypergeometric functions. Increasing parameter a modifies the measures in such a way that they gradually transform into those corresponding to the DFO what, in particular, means that the lowest orbital saturates Heisenberg, Shannon, Rényi and Tsallis uncertainty relations with the corresponding position and momentum non–Gaussianities turning to zero. A simple expression is derived of the orbital-independent lower threshold of the semi-infinite range of the dimensionless Rényi/Tsallis coefficient where momentum components of these one-parameter entropies exist which shows that it varies between 1/4 at HHO and zero when a tends to infinity. Physical interpretation of obtained mathematical results is provided.

Information‐entropic measures in free and confined hydrogen atom

Neetik Mukherjee, Amlan K. Roy

Abstract Shannon entropy (S), Rényi entropy (R), Tsallis entropy (T), Fisher information (I), and Onicescu energy (E) have been explored extensively in both free H atom (FHA) and confined H atom (CHA). For a given quantum state, accurate results are presented by employing respective exact analytical wave functions in r space. The p‐space wave functions are generated from respective Fourier transforms—for FHA these can be expressed analytically in terms of Gegenbauer polynomials, whereas in CHA these are computed numerically. Exact mathematical expressions of , are derived for circular states of a FHA. Pilot calculations are done taking order of entropic moments (α, β) as in r and p spaces. A detailed, systematic analysis is performed for both FHA and CHA with respect to state indices n, l, and with confinement radius (rc) for the latter. In a CHA, at small rc, kinetic energy increases, whereas decrease with growth of n, signifying greater localization in high‐lying states. At moderate rc, there exists an interplay between two mutually opposing factors: (i) radial confinement (localization) and (ii) accumulation of radial nodes with growth of n (delocalization). Most of these results are reported here for the first time, revealing many new interesting features. Comparison with literature results, wherever possible, offers excellent agreement.
