The effect of atomic motion on photoionization of a -type system

Abstract

The effect of atomic centre-of-mass motion on the photoionization of a -type atom system is studied. The results show that the two lower states of the -type atom with a given momentum p can form a non-ionization state. Nevertheless, the atomic motion would result in redistribution of the ionization and destruction of the population trapping when the centre-of-mass momenta of the atom have a Gaussian distribution.

Effects of the Centre-of-Mass Motion on the Population Trapping of Ultracold Atoms

熊锦, 张智明

We investigate the effects of the atomic centre-of-mass motion on atomic population trapping in a two-modemicromaser injected with ultracold A-type three-level atoms. We find that in the mazer regime (the case in whichthe atomic kinetic energy is much smaller than the atom-field interaction energy), the interplay between reflectionand transmission of the ultracold atom leads to the destruction of the atomic population trapping.

Momentum Transfer and Effect of Motion of Atomic Mass Centre on an Atom-Cavity System

Yi Xue-Xi, Sun Changpu

For a special -type atom with dark state, the problem of momentum transfer is discussed in detail. Effect of moving mass centre on atomic dynamics for various initial conditions is also studied. The numerical results show that the Doppler effect exercised by the motion of atomic mass centre can lead to the modified phenomenon of oscillation collapse and revival in the transition probability and the atomic population inversion.

Effects of laser phases on photoionization and coherent population trapping in a two-channel ionization system

Gao‐xiang Li, Jin-sheng Peng, Peng Zhou

We have studied the effects of laser phases on photoionization rate and atomic coherent population trapping in a two-channel ionization system. A dressed-state analysis is given to explain the appearance of phase-dependent atomic coherent population trapping.

We have investigated the photoionization properties of an atom with a ladder coupling scheme involving two autoionizing states coupled to each other. The effects of the coherent coupling between two autoionizing states and between the low-lying autoionizing state and the continuum on the ionization yield are discussed. The conditions leading to atomic coherent population trapping and the coherent population trapping states are given explicitly.
