Abstract

A general solution of the Schrödinger equation in the potential representation has been obtained in the form of integral equations. In this representation, the wave function for positive and negative energies or bound states can be expressed as a product of the unperturbed solution for model potential and the function which depends on the additional potential or potential perturbation. Here we have proved that this method is equivalent to the method of variation of constants for negative energies. The linearly independent solutions of Schrödinger equation for harmonic oscillator potential have been obtained for derivation of integral equations, which are used for finding eigenfunctions and eigenvalues for Woods–Saxon potential. Eigenvalues obtained by numerical iterations of these integral equations are in good agreement with results obtained by the discretization method. The kernels of the obtained integral equations are proportional to the perturbation or difference of Woods–Saxon and harmonic oscillator potentials.

Scattering of the Woods–Saxon potential in the Schrödinger equation

Altuğ Arda, Oktay Aydogdu A, R. Sever

The scattering solutions of the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation for the Woods–Saxon potential are obtained within the position-dependent mass formalism. The wavefunctions, transmission and reflection coefficients are calculated in terms of Heun's function. These results are also studied in detail for the constant mass case.

Analysis And Simulation Of Schrődinger Eigenfunctions Of Several Potentials With Numerov Method

FendaRizky Pratama

The eigenfunctions as the solutions of Schrodinger equation for particle in the box, simple harmonic and perturbed oscillators, as well as in the case of Coloumb, linear, Morse, Yukawa, and modified Woods-Saxon potentials are simulated with fourth-order Numerov algorithm. The simulation techniques for initialization, which is aimed to acquire qualitative behaviour of eigenfunctions are derived by solving Schrodinger equation in particular region directly or by WKB approximation and Bohr-Sommerfeld quatization rule. The simulated eigenfunctions possess good accuracy, with maximum relative error in the order 10─3 compared to the analytical eigenfunctions or are in the good agreements with the analytical eigenfunctions calculated in the previous works. This work also provides some illustrations of how approximation methods are able to improve the accuracy in computational simulations.

ANALYTIC SOLUTION TO THE SCHRDINGER EQUATION WITH A HARMONIC OSCILLATOR POTENTIAL PLUS δ-POTENTIAL

Qinglin Peng

The analytic solution to the Schrodinger equation with a harmonic oscillator potentialplus δ-potential is presented in the coordinate representation. Its algebraic expression in theenergy representation is also given. The degeneracy of the energy levels is discussed and acomparison between the energy spectra of a harmonic oscillator and a particle in a δ-poten-tial is made.

Exact Supersymmetric solution of Schrodinger equation is obtained for PT non PT symmetric and non Hermitian generalized Woods Saxon potential to get the real and complex valued energy eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions for the bound states. Nikiforov Uvarov method is used in the calculations.

EIGENVALUES AND EIGENFUNCTIONS OF WOODS–SAXON POTENTIAL IN PT-SYMMETRIC QUANTUM MECHANICS

Ayşe Berkdemir, Cüneyt Berkdemir, R. Sever

Using the Nikiforov–Uvarov method which is based on solving the second-order differential equations, we firstly analyzed the energy spectra and eigenfunctions of the Woods–Saxon potential. In the framework of the PT-symmetric quantum mechanics, we secondly solved the time-independent Schrödinger equation for the PT and non-PT-symmetric version of the potential. It is shown that the discrete energy eigenvalues of the non-PT-symmetric potential consist of the real and imaginary parts, but the PT-symmetric one has a real spectrum. Results are obtained for s-states only.

On the quantization of the potential amplitude in the Schrödinger equation

Balagurov B.Ya.

A consistent scheme is proposed for quantizing the potential amplitude in the Schrödinger equation in the case of negative energies (lying in the discrete-spectrum domain). The properties of the eigenfunctions φν(r) and eigenvalues ανcorresponding to zero, small, and large absolute values of energy E < 0 are analyzed. Expansion in the set {φν(r)} is used to develop a regular perturbation theory (for E < 0), and a general expression is found for the Green function associated with the time-independent Schrödinger equation. A similar method is used to solve several physical problems: the polarizability of a bound quantum-mechanical system, the two-center problem, and the elastic scattering of slow particles. The proposed approach is advantageous in that it does not require the use of continuum states (for E > 0).
