Dynamics of a qubit coupled to a broadened harmonic mode at finite detuning

Francesco Nesi, Milena Grifoni, Elisabetta Paladino

We study the dynamics of a symmetric two-level system strongly coupled to a broadened harmonic mode. Upon mapping the problem on to a spin–boson model with peaked spectral density, we show how analytic solutions can be obtained, at arbitrary detuning and finite temperatures, in the case of large Q -factors of the oscillator. One, two or more dominating oscillation frequencies of the two-level particle can be observed as a consequence of the entanglement with the oscillator. Our approximated analytical solution agrees well with numerical predictions obtained within the non-interacting blip approximation.

Cavity Optomechanics with Synthetic Landau Levels of Ultracold Fermi Gas

Bikash Padhi, Sankalpa Ghosh

Ultracold fermionic atoms placed in a synthetic magnetic field arrange themselves in Landau levels. We theoretically study the optomechanical interaction between the light field and collective excitations of such fermionic atoms in synthetic magnetic field by placing them inside a Fabry-Perot cavity. We derive the effective Hamiltonian for particle hole excitations from a filled Landau level using a bosonization technique and obtain an expression for the cavity transmission spectrum. Using this we show that the cavity transmission spectrum demonstrates cold atom analog of Shubnikov-de Haas oscillation in electronic condensed matter systems. We discuss the experimental consequences for this oscillation for such a system and the related optical bistability.

INFLUENCE OF EXTERNAL FIELDS ON THE KILLINGBECK POTENTIAL: QUASI EXACT SOLUTION

M. Hamzavi, Sameer M. Ikhdair

The Killingbeck potential consists of oscillator potential plus Cornell potential, i.e. ar2+ br - c/r, that it has received a great deal of attention in particle physics. In this paper, we study the energy levels and wave function for arbitrary m-state in two-dimensional (2D) Schrödinger equation (SE) with a Killingbeck potential under the influence of strong external uniform magnetic and Aharonov–Bohm (AB) flux fields perpendicular to the plane where the interacting particles are confined. We use the wave function ansatz method to solve the radial problem of the Schrödinger equation with Killingbeck potential. We obtain the energy levels in the absence of external fields and also find the energy levels of the familiar Coulomb and harmonic oscillator potentials.
