Abstract

By using decomposition of the 3 ? 3 real matrix and Dirac's coordinate representation we can derive disentangling of some exponential operators, which is useful for analyzing both squeezing and entangling mechanisms. This method may be generalized to the n ? n real matrix case.

Quantum Mechanical Image of Matrices' LDU Decomposition

Fan Hong‐Yi, Yuan Shao-Jie

For classical transformation ( q 1 , q 2 ) → ( A q 1 + B q 2 , C q 1 + D q 2 ), where AD – CB ≠ 1, we find its quantum mechanical image by using LDU decomposition of the matrix . The explicit operators , , and Û are derived and their physical meaning is revealed, this also provides a new way for disentangling some exponential operators.

New application of Dirac's representation: N-mode squeezing enhanced operator and squeezed state

Xue-xiang Xu, Li-Yun Hu, Hong-Yi Fan

It is known that exp[i\lamda(Q_1P_1-i/2)] is a unitary single-mode squeezing operator, where Q_1,P_1 are the coordinate and momentum operators, respectively. In this paper we employ Dirac's coordinate representation to prove that the exponential operator S_{n}=Exp[i\lamda sum_{i=1}^{n}](Q_{i}P_{i+1}+Q_{i+1}P_{i}))], (Q_{n+1}=Q_1P_{n+1}=P_1), is a n-mode squeezing operator which enhances the standard squeezing. By virtue of the technique of integration within an ordered product of operators we derive S_{n}'s normally ordered expansion and obtain new n-mode squeezed vacuum states, its Wigner function is calculated by using the Weyl ordering invariance under similar transformations.

Coherent State Representation for a Kind of Operator Disentangling Formulae

Fan Hong‐Yi, Zou Hui, Hui Wang

We derive a kind of operator disentangling formulae and their coherent state representation by virtue of the correspondence between symplectic transformations and their quantum mechanical images. The application of the formulae in calculating Feynman transformation matrix elements is discussed.

Finite-dimensional matrix representations as calculational tools in quantum optics

A. Mufti, H. A. Schmitt, M. Sargent

A powerful operator-algebra technique is used to calculate several useful relations encountered in quantum optics, such as the disentangling of the squeezing operator. The technique uses a faithful finite dimensional matrix representation of a Lie algebra to perform representation-independent calculations and often requires considerably less computation than other methods. While it has had little exposure within the quantum optics community, the method is quite popular with mathematical physicists in field theory.

Disentanglement formulas: An alternative derivation and some applications to squeezed coherent states

Ananda Dasgupta

An alternative derivation of the disentanglement formulas for exponential operators, also known as the Baker–Campbell–Housdorff formulas is given for several Lie algebras. The method is especially suited to Lie algebras having no nontrivial center. We also look at some results that can be obtained by the use of these formulas in the case of squeezed coherent states.
