Abstract

Energy transfer in the system of complex donor-acceptor type centers nearby placed in solid is considered on the base of Bogolyubov approach. The possibility of effective magnitude-frequency transformation of coherent radiation of donor pump into output radiation of acceptor is predicted and theoretically proved.

Manipulation of spectra of output radiation of dopant energetic donor-acceptor pair by pump light power

A E Dmitriev, Yelena I. Dmitriyeva, Oleg M. Parshkov +1 more

Theoretical treatment of the effects of external pulse field on the emission and absorption of two impurity centers has been attempted. Good overlapping of emission band of one center (donor of energy) with the absorption band of another center (acceptor of energy) is assumed, so that radiative and non-radiative energy transfer may take place. Mathematical model is based on the system of reduced Maxwell equations for magnitudes of field components and Bogolubov's equations for elements of multiparticle density matrix of donor-acceptor complex. Numerical solution is obtained for NaCl:Cu, Mn and KCl:Pb,Eu crystals. These materials are differing in the value of transition dipole moment of acceptor absorption. It is low for the first medium while for KCl:Pb,Eu it is comparable to that one for the donor emission. It turns out that in the case of low value of transition dipole moment the luminescence of both components of donor-acceptor pair takes place. On the contrary, only acceptor emission exists in the case of high value of transition dipole moment of acceptor when the pump intensity is low. Simultaneous luminescence of donor and acceptor occurs when pump intensity is enough. So, in the systems of such kind the emission may be changed over from one frequency to another through the power level of pump radiation.

Vibration-assisted coherent excitation energy transfer in a detuning system

Xin Wang, Hao Chen, Hongrong Li

The roles of the vibration motions played in the excitation energy transfer process are studied. It is found that a strong coherent transfer in the hybrid system emerges when the detuning between the donor and the acceptor equals the intrinsic frequency of the vibrational mode, and as a result the energy can be transferred into the acceptor much effectively. Three cases of the donor and the acceptor coupling with vibrational modes are investigated respectively. We find that the quantum interference between the two different transfer channels via the vibrational modes can affects the dynamics of the system significantly.

Coherent energy transfer of a pair of two-level atoms

Xiaogang Bai, Haiming Zhang

The coherent energy transfer efficiency of a pair of two-level atoms is studied theoretically and its mathematical expression has been deduced. The problem of atoms coherent energy transfer theory is treated by quantum perturbation theory and equivalent method replacing atomic dipole field with light field of the same frequency. The detuning between the donor atom transition frequency and the acceptor atom transition frequency has been studied in the theory. With the increase of the detuning of the two-atomic transition frequency, the energy transfer efficiency decays rapidly. In the case of two-atomic transition frequency resonance, the coherent resonance energy transfer efficiency is directly proportional to the square of the sine of the minus three power of the distance between two atoms and the energy transfer efficiency is periodically decaying over time. The coherent resonance energy transfer efficiency is inversely proportional to the six power of the distance between the two atoms in the first-order approximation.

Control excitation and coherent transfer in a dimer

Hongrong Li, Pei Zhang, Yingjun Liu +2 more

In this article, the processes of energy absorption and coherent transfer in a dimer are studied. The dimer includes two two-level pigments, donor and acceptor, where the donor is assumed to be excited by a control pulse in the time domain. We investigate the dynamics of probability that the acceptor is in the excited state and the total efficiency of energy absorption and transfer under different temporal shapes of the control pulse. Quantum concurrence of the dimer is also discussed.

Coherently pumped two-frequency laser-type devices

I. R. Senitzky

A three-level system which radiates at both intermediate transition frequencies is considered to be coherently pumped at a frequency near the two-photon resonance frequency. A sharply resonant rise in the second- and third-level population is found for slight detuning of the pump from two-photon resonance. Population inversion in either transition is shown to be possible, depending on the pertinent parameters. This effect furnishes a novel method of population inversion at a frequency higher than the pump frequency. Keywords include: Laser, Laser-type devices, Coherent pumping, Three-level systems, and Quantum electronics.

Coherent fluorescence resonance energy transfer between two dipoles: Full quantum electrodynamics approach

В. В. Климов, Sergey K. Sekatskii, Giovanni Dietler

The quantum electrodynamical theory of coherent fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between two dipoles (free atoms, molecules or dopant centres in crystalline matrices at low temperature conditions) in an arbitrary non-dissipative environment is elaborated using a canonical quantization scheme. It is shown that population dynamics of both atoms can be expressed in terms of a classical Green function. This general theory corresponds well to the problem of description of controllable quantum manipulations under the donor-acceptor system (e.g. its application for FRET scanning near-field optical microscopy-based quantum computing). In addition, its usefulness is illustrated for the case of coherent FRET in free space and for the case when atoms are placed near an ideally conducting plane. The possibility of creating an entangled state of three atoms is demonstrated.
