Abstract

We propose a scheme for implementing conditional quantum phase gates for two four-state atoms trapped in a cavity. The two ground states of the atoms are coupled through two Raman processes induced by the cavity mode and two classical fields. Under certain conditions nonresonant Raman processes lead to two-atom coupling and can be used to produce conditional phase gates. The scheme is insensitive to cavity decay, thermal photons, and atomic spontaneous emission. The scheme does not require individual addressing of the atoms.

We propose a scheme for implementing a two-qubit quantum phase gate for intracavity fields. In the scheme, two qubits are encoded in zero- and one-photon Fock states of two intracavity modes, and a four-level $\mathsf{N}$-type atomic ensemble trapped in a cavity mediates the conditional phase gate within a given interaction time. We also discuss the influence of the atomic spontaneous emission and the decay of the cavity modes on the photon loss and gate fidelity, showing the scheme is within the current experiment technology.

Unconventional geometric quantum phase gates with a cavity QED system

Shi‐Biao Zheng

We propose a scheme for realizing two-qubit quantum phase gates via an unconventional geometric phase shift with atoms in a cavity. In the scheme the atoms interact simultaneously with a highly detuned cavity mode and a classical field. The atoms undergo no transitions during the gate operation, while the cavity mode is displaced along a circle in the phase space, aquiring a geometric phase conditional upon the atomic state. Under certain conditions, the atoms are disentangled with the cavity mode and thus the gate is insensitive to both the atomic spontaneous emission and the cavity decay.

Implementing conditional quantum phase gate via cavity decay

We propose a theoretical scheme to implement the conditional quantum phase gate between distant atoms based on adiabatic passage and the detection of cavity decay. This scheme is inherently robust to diverse sources of noise, for instance, atomic spontaneous emission, output coupling inefficiency and detector inefficiency. Especially, the phase gate can be realized even if the Lamb–Dicke condition is not better satisfied.

Conditional quantum controlled-phase gate between distant atoms in optical cavities

A scheme is proposed to implement a quantum controlled-phase gate between two four-level atoms inside the different optical cavities. The scheme combines the advantage of scalability from the photon and power of strong atom-photon coupling, which yields the desired unitary evolution operation. The scheme is immune to decoherence due to cavity photon decay and atomic spontaneous emission, and the operation is implemented probabilistically with a very high fidelity.

Conditional quantum phase gate using distant atoms and linear optics

Xu‐Bo Zou, Wolfgang M. Mathis

A scheme is proposed to implement a conditional quantum phase gate between atoms trapped in spatially separated cavities. Instead of direct interaction between atoms, quantum interference of polarized photons decayed from the optical cavities is used to realize the desired quantum operation between two distant atoms. The scheme requires a twofold coincidence detection, and is insensitive to the imperfection of the photon detectors.

Cavity-QED-based phase gate for photonic qubits

We present a two-qubit phase gate for photonic qubits using a three-level atom trapped in an optical cavity. In the scheme, the two ground states are coupled to the excited state by two cavity fields, respectively, and one of them is driven by a classical laser field. It is shown that, based on the large-detuning condition, the decay of atomic spontaneous emission can be effectively suppressed. The influence of cavity decay on our scheme is also investigated.
