Unconventional geometric quantum phase gates with a cavity QED system

Abstract

We propose a scheme for realizing two-qubit quantum phase gates via an unconventional geometric phase shift with atoms in a cavity. In the scheme the atoms interact simultaneously with a highly detuned cavity mode and a classical field. The atoms undergo no transitions during the gate operation, while the cavity mode is displaced along a circle in the phase space, aquiring a geometric phase conditional upon the atomic state. Under certain conditions, the atoms are disentangled with the cavity mode and thus the gate is insensitive to both the atomic spontaneous emission and the cavity decay.

Unconventional geometric phase gates using two cyclic three-level artificial atoms in a cavity

Using two cyclic three-level artificial atoms, we propose a scheme for realizing two-qubit quantum phase gates via an unconventional geometric phase shift in a cavity. In this scheme, the excited states of the two artificial atoms are adiabatically eliminated, and the logical gates' operation only involves their metastable states. Moreover, under certain conditions, the artificial atoms are disentangled with the cavity mode. Thus the gate is insensitive to both the cavity decay and the spontaneous emission of the artificial atoms.

Implement of Unconventional Geometric Quantum Phase Gate Via Cavity QED

LI Hong-cai

A scheme is proposed for realizing unconventional geometric quantum phase gate originated from high-dimensional squeezed operators, which can be easily generalized to the physical system of Cavity QED.In the scheme,two-qubit g unconventional geometric phase gate is carried out by threes level atoms in a cavity, strongly drive by a resonant classical field.Under ideal condition, the resonant interaction in our scheme results in a short gating time.

Unconventional geometric quantum computation in a two-mode cavity

Chunfeng Wu, Zisheng Wang, Xun‐Li Feng +4 more

We propose a scheme for implementing unconventional geometric quantum computation by using the interaction of two atoms with a two-mode cavity field. The evolution of the system results in a nontrivial two-qubit phase gate. The operation of the proposed gate involves only metastable states of the atom and hence is not affected by spontaneous emission. The effect of cavity decay on the gate is investigated. It is shown that the evolution time of the gate in the two-mode case is less than that in the single-mode case proposed by Feng et al. [Phys. Rev. A 75, 052312 (2007)]. Thus the gate can be more decay tolerant than the previous one. The scheme can also be generalized to a system consisting of two atoms interacting with an $N$-mode cavity field.

Unconventional geometric phase gates for two distant atoms trapped in spatially separate cavities

Aiping Zhang, Xiu-Xing Zhang, Zhanmin Wang +1 more

In this paper, we propose a scheme for implementing an unconventional two-qubit geometric phase gate for two distant atoms trapped in cavities connected by an optical fiber. During the gate operation, the atoms are still in the ground states, while the cavity modes and fiber mode are displaced along a circle in the phase space. In this way, the system can acquire different geometric phases conditional upon the atomic states. We find that the operation of the geometric phase gate can be speeded up as the detuning between the cavity field and light fields decreases. Moreover, it is observed that the fidelity for the geometric phase gate is remarkably insensitive to the fluctuation of the detuning parameter. The effects of cavity decay and fiber loss on the gate have also been checked.

Approximate unconventional geometric phase gate by highly squeezed operators with a cavity QED system

Changyong Chen, Kelin Gao

We introduce the general definition of the unconventional geometric phase independent of the specific physical system and show how a highly squeezed operator can approximately induce the general unconventional geometric phase, which goes beyond the original unconventional one by displacement operators (Zhu and Wang 2003 Phys. Rev. Lett. 91 187902). By means of the squeezed operator concerning the cavity mode state along a closed path in the phase space, we discuss specifically how to implement approximately a two-qubit geometric phase gate in a cavity QED system with two-photon interaction between the atoms and the cavity mode, assisted by a classical field. Discussions regarding the implementation time of the gating, the possible decaying sources and the experimental feasibility are given in detail.

Unconventional geometric phase gates using two four-level rf-SQUIDs with cyclic population transfer in a cavity

Li-Xin Xia, Guo-Xin Xiong, Qiongtao Xie

We propose a scheme for realizing two-qubit quantum phase gates via an unconventional geometric phase shift using two four-level superconducting artificial atoms with cyclic population transfer (broken symmetry) in a cavity. In this scheme, the logical gates' operation only involves the metastable states of each artificial atom. Moreover, under certain conditions, the atoms are disentangled with the cavity mode. Thus, the gate is insensitive to both the atomic spontaneous emission and the cavity decay.
