Abstract

The diminishing of light-induced change in optical density of additively and electrolytically colored KCl:Li FA optical memories are compared. An approximation for the transient refractive-index change is also presented.

Some simple experimental ideas are introduced to demonstrate optical memory. The optical memory is based on the use of the linear dichroism of FA color centers in KCl:Li crystal.

Self-induced polarization plane rotation in the degenerated absorption band of FA centers in KCl crystals

G. Yu. Rudko, V. I. Sidorenko, V. P. Svirgun

Experimental results on the self-induced polarization plane rotation (SPPR) of radiation corresponding to the degenerate absorption band of FA(Li) and FA(Na) centers in KCl crystals are reported. The SPPR at stationary conditions and the kinetics of the phenomena are investigated. Comparison of the theoretical and experimental results justified the validity of the tunneling centers resonant optical orientation theory for the SPPR by FA centers of both I- and II-typc.

In this paper we describe a fiber optic system which was used for information reading from the FA center temporary memory. The fiber optic system was used to replace the probe wave of the spectrophotometer used in earlier studies.
