Abstract: Quantum computing is a modern calculation method that is based on the science of quantum mechanics. These phenomena include the bizarre behavior of particles at the atomic and subatomic levels, and the way that these particles can be in multiple states simultaneously. The field of computer science is a great mix of physics, math, and information theory. This technology provides high computing power, low power consumption, and exponential speed by controlling the behavior of small physical objects, such as atoms. Atoms, electrons, photons, etc. are all elements of the physical world. We would like to introduce the basics of quantum computing, and some of the ideas behind it. This article begins with the origins of the classical computer and discusses all the improvements and transformations that have been made due to its limitations thus far, then moves on to the basic operations of quantum computing and results in quantum properties such as superposition, entanglement, and interference.

Quantum Computing: The Next Frontier in Technology

Aruna M. Jarju

Quantum computing represents a revolutionary leap in computational power, leveraging the principles of quantum mechanics to process information in fundamentally new ways. Unlike classical computers, which use bits to represent data as 0s or 1s, quantum computers use quantum bits or qubits, enabling the phenomena of superposition and entanglement to perform complex calculations more efficiently (Nielsen & Chuang, 2010). This article explores the basic principles of quantum computing, the different models and algorithms that have been developed, and the current state of quantum hardware. The power of quantum computing lies in its ability to solve certain types of problems exponentially faster than classical computers. For instance, Shor's algorithm can factorize large integers in polynomial time, posing a significant threat to classical encryption methods (Shor, 1997). Similarly, Grover's algorithm provides a quadratic speedup for unstructured search problems, showcasing the potential for dramatic improvements in database search capabilities (Grover, 1996). These algorithms exemplify how quantum computing can revolutionize fields that rely on complex computations. Quantum hardware, however, is still in its nascent stage, with significant challenges to be overcome. Current quantum computers, such as those developed by IBM and Google, have demonstrated quantum supremacy but are limited by issues of qubit coherence and error rates (Arute et al., 2019). Quantum error correction and the development of more stable qubit technologies are critical areas of ongoing research (Preskill, 2018). Despite these challenges, recent advancements in quantum hardware and algorithms continue to drive the field forward, promising transformative impacts on industries such as cryptography, drug discovery, and artificial intelligence. As quantum computing continues to advance, it holds the promise of solving problems that are currently intractable for classical computers, paving the way for unprecedented technological and scientific advancements (Shor, 1997; Grover, 1996). This article provides a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of quantum computing, discussing its foundational principles, key algorithms, hardware challenges, and potential applications. By understanding these aspects, we can better appreciate the profound implications of quantum computing for the future of technology and science.

Introduction to Quantum Computing

Surya Teja Marella, Hemanth Sai Kumar Parisa

Quantum computing is a modern way of computing that is based on the science of quantum mechanics and its unbelievable phenomena. It is a beautiful combination of physics, mathematics, computer science and information theory. It provides high computational power, less energy consumption and exponential speed over classical computers by controlling the behavior of small physical objects i.e. microscopic particles like atoms, electrons, photons, etc. Here, we present an introduction to the fundamental concepts and some ideas of quantum computing. This paper starts with the origin of traditional computing and discusses all the improvements and transformations that have been done due to their limitations until now. Then it moves on to the basic working of quantum computing and the quantum properties it follows like superposition, entanglement and interference. To understand the full potentials and challenges of a practical quantum computer that can be launched commercially, the paper covers the architecture, hardware, software, design, types and algorithms that are specifically required by the quantum computers. It uncovers the capability of quantum computers that can impact our lives in various viewpoints like cyber security, traffic optimization, medicines, artificial intelligence and many more. At last, we concluded all the importance, advantages and disadvantages of quantum computers. Small-scale quantum computers are being developed recently. This development is heading towards a great future due to their high potential capabilities and advancements in ongoing research. Before focusing on the significances of a general-purpose quantum computer and exploring the power of the new arising technology, it is better to review the origin, potentials, and limitations of the existing traditional computing. This information helps us in understanding the possible challenges in developing exotic and competitive technology. It will also give us an insight into the ongoing progress in this field.

QUANTUM COMPUTING

Titu-Marius I. Băjenescu

The quantum computer, is a "supercomputer" that relies on the phenomena of quantum mechanics to perform operations on data. Object of suppositions, sometimes farfetched, quantum mechanics gave birth to the quantum computer, a machine capable of processing data tens of millions of times faster than a conventional computer. A quantum computer doesn't use the same memory as a conventional computer. Rather than a sequence of 0 and 1, it works with qubits or quantum bits. The quantum computer is a combination of two major scientific fields: quantum mechanics and computer science. Quantum mechanics, on which this computer is based, governs the movement of bodies in the atomic, molecular and corpuscular domains, is a theory whose logic is totally contrary to intuition and it is essential to use mathematics to fully grasp it. Quantum computing is the sub-domain of computer science that deals with quantum computers using quantum mechanical phenomena, as opposed to those of electricity exclusively, for so-called "classical" computing. The quantum phenomena used are quantum entanglement and superposition. The article examines some aspects related to the development, operation, advantages and difficulties, applications and future of the quantum computer.
