Abstract

Abstract: Quantum computing is a modern calculation method that is based on the science of quantum mechanics. These phenomena include the bizarre behavior of particles at the atomic and subatomic levels, and the way that these particles can be in multiple states simultaneously. The field of computer science is a great mix of physics, math, and information theory. This technology provides high computing power, low power consumption, and exponential speed by controlling the behavior of small physical objects, such as atoms. Atoms, electrons, photons, etc. are all elements of the physical world. We would like to introduce the basics of quantum computing, and some of the ideas behind it. This article begins with the origins of the classical computer and discusses all the improvements and transformations that have been made due to its limitations thus far, then moves on to the basic operations of quantum computing and results in quantum properties such as superposition, entanglement, and interference.

Introduction to Quantum Computing

Surya Teja Marella, Hemanth Sai Kumar Parisa

Quantum computing is a modern way of computing that is based on the science of quantum mechanics and its unbelievable phenomena. It is a beautiful combination of physics, mathematics, computer science and information theory. It provides high computational power, less energy consumption and exponential speed over classical computers by controlling the behavior of small physical objects i.e. microscopic particles like atoms, electrons, photons, etc. Here, we present an introduction to the fundamental concepts and some ideas of quantum computing. This paper starts with the origin of traditional computing and discusses all the improvements and transformations that have been done due to their limitations until now. Then it moves on to the basic working of quantum computing and the quantum properties it follows like superposition, entanglement and interference. To understand the full potentials and challenges of a practical quantum computer that can be launched commercially, the paper covers the architecture, hardware, software, design, types and algorithms that are specifically required by the quantum computers. It uncovers the capability of quantum computers that can impact our lives in various viewpoints like cyber security, traffic optimization, medicines, artificial intelligence and many more. At last, we concluded all the importance, advantages and disadvantages of quantum computers. Small-scale quantum computers are being developed recently. This development is heading towards a great future due to their high potential capabilities and advancements in ongoing research. Before focusing on the significances of a general-purpose quantum computer and exploring the power of the new arising technology, it is better to review the origin, potentials, and limitations of the existing traditional computing. This information helps us in understanding the possible challenges in developing exotic and competitive technology. It will also give us an insight into the ongoing progress in this field.

Kavita Arora, Neha Gupta, Rashmi Agrawal +1 more

Quantum computing is a contemporary method of computation that follows the concepts of quantum mechanics. This technology is a wonderful amalgamation of physics, mathematics, computer science, and information technology. This technology imparts towering computing capacity, lessened energy demand, and mounting speed on top of conventional machines. This is accomplished by having a control on the behavior of tiny physical matter such as atoms and electrons. This chapter gives a sneak peek into the world of quantum computing and its fundamental concepts. This work also discusses the conventional mechanism of computing and augmentation and transfiguration happened due to constraints in the existing machines. After discussing this, the flow of work moves to discussion of the basic work mechanism and properties of quantum computing. This work also uncovers the hardware and software requirements, its significance, and favorable and unfavorable outcomes. This study certainly gives a deep insight into the power of this new arising technology in this competitive world.

QUANTUM COMPUTING A helpful introduction to all aspects of quantum computing Quantum computing is a field combining quantum mechanics—the physical science of nature at the scale of atoms and subatomic particles—and information science. Where ordinary computing uses bits, logical values whose position can either be 0 or 1, quantum computing is built around qubits, a fundamental unit of quantum information which can exist in a superposition of both states. As quantum computers are able to complete certain kinds of functions more accurately and efficiently than computers built on classical binary logic, quantum computing is an emerging frontier which promises to revolutionize information science and its applications. This book provides a concise, accessible introduction to quantum computing. It begins by introducing the essentials of quantum mechanics that information and computer scientists require, before moving to detailed discussions of quantum computing in theory and practice. As quantum computing becomes an ever-greater part of the global information technology landscape, the knowledge in Quantum Computing will position readers to join a vital and highly marketable field of research and development. The book’s readers will also find: Detailed diagrams and illustrations throughout A broadly applicable quantum algorithm that improves on the best-known classical algorithms for a wide range of problems In-depth discussion of essential topics including key distribution, cluster state quantum computing, superconducting qubits, and more Quantum Computing is perfect for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or the physical sciences, as well as for researchers and academics at the intersection of these fields who want a concise reference.

A Detailed Review on Quantum Computing Technologies

P. Saravanamoorthi

Modern computing approaches like quantum computing are based on the remarkable occurrences of quantum mechanics. It is a combination of information theory, computer science, mathematics, and physics. The study of quantum computing includes the design and development of computer-based technologies based on quantum theory, which explains the nature and behaviour of energy and matter at atomic and sub-atomic levels. Sub-atomic particles such as electrons and photons are used in quantum computing. These particles exist in two different states (i.e., 1 and 0) based on quantum bits or qubits. Compared to conventional computers, quantum computing offers higher computing capacity, lower energy utilization, and high speed. This article reviews the state-of-the-art quantum computing technologies and different ways in which the qubits can exponentially increase the efficiency of quantum computers and sort various possibilities and identify potential solutions to different challenges.

From Atomic Collision to Quantum Computers

Patanjali Kashyap, Kumari Poonam

Quantum mechanics is amazing, and computing abilities accessible by it are just the tip of the iceberg. It has an extensive variety of applicability in biology, computer hardware. The simple idea of engineering quantum computers for commonplace use is flattering perceptible with novel technological developments in quantum theories. Quantum computing emphasizes the philosophies of quantum theory, which pacts with modern physics that clarifies the behavior of matter and energy at an atomic and subatomic level. Quantum computing styles use quantum phenomena, on which quantum physics is based such as superposition, tunneling, uncertainty principle, and entanglement. It uses them for multiple purposes including data procedures. Hence, Quantum computing in this way fundamentally challenges tremendously tough tasks that normal computers cannot do on their own in an unconventional way which we are used to with classical computers. In conventional computing, a bit is a term to signify information by computers. Quantum computing uses quantum bits or qubits for a unit of memory. Qubits are contained and now realized of a two-state efficient and effective quantum-mechanical system. A quantum-mechanical system is one that can be in any two different quantum states. Superposition is a principle that positions while we do not know the state of a thing at a specified time, it is conceivable that it is in all states concurrently if we do not look at it to crisscross its state. This means that energy and mass turn out to be connected to interrelate with each other irrespective of remoteness. Entanglement and superpositioning are tremendously significant in proceeding computing and communications that can advantage us in many ways. These two marvels can be used to process an extremely big number of calculations, whereas normal computers cannot. The influence of quantum computing is amazing and not several grips the full competences it has to bid.
