Abstract

The structure of software package for simulating processes of echo-responses generation in optically dense medium is investigated. Complete analysis of the mathematical model realizing multipulse long lived photon echo forming in resonant media is presented taking into account a non-linear evolution of radiation and an irreversible relaxation during the whole time of a pulse sequence action.

The primary photon echo signal excited by two non-collinear pulses in optically dense media with extreme inhomogeneous broadening is investigated theoretically and numerically. Non-linear evolution of both echo exciting pulses and echo response during propagation is taken into account. Red frequency shift of the primary photon echo is predicted. Simulation of coherent responses of resonant media excited by a series of ultrashort laser pulses

Alexey Tiranov, Каримуллин Камиль Равкатович, В. В. Самарцев

A technique for the numerical simulation of coherent optical responses of the photon echo type formed in resonance media with strong inhomogeneous broadening under the action of femtosecond laser pulses is developed. This approach is based on solving the Maxwell-Bloch equations using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method without application of a fast rotating field and slowly varying envelope approximations. The method can be used to simulate coherent responses in different resonance media with a complex structure of energy levels. The technique was validated using the example of describing experiments on narrowing a photon echo pulse and femtosecond echo processing.

Photon echoes in optically dense media

Sergey A. Moiseev, Mahmood Sabooni, Ravil V. Urmancheev

The authors derive analytical expressions for secondary echoes formed under the two-pulse excitation of the optically dense media developing McCall-Hahn area theorem for echo effects. They find that a series of self-reviving echo signals with a total area of 2$\ensuremath{\pi}$ or 0$\ensuremath{\pi}$ is excited and propagates deep in the media demonstrating strong non-linear nature of light-matter interaction at small changes of second pulse area. The pulse area approach paves the way for precise coherent spectroscopy, the study of different photon echoes and quantum control of light pulses in the optically dense media.
