Abstract

The quantum discord of the two-atom system, which is in two independent Lorentzian reservoirs and in two independent Ohmic reservoirs with the Lorentz–Drude cutoff function, respectively, and the reservoirs are at zero temperature, is studied by applying the time-convolutionless master-equation method. We find that the quantum discord of the two-atom system is dependent on the characteristics of non-Markovian environments. The results show that the quantum discord can be effectively protected not only in Lorentzian reservoirs, but also in ohmic reservoirs with the Lorentz–Drude cutoff function. Finally, the physical interpretations for these results are given via the correlation function.

Discord and entanglement in non-Markovian environments at finite temperatures

Hong-Mei Zou, Mao-Fa Fang

The dynamic evolutions of the discord and entanglement of two atoms immersed in two independent Lorentzian reservoirs at zero and finite temperatures have been investigated by using the time-convolutionless master-equation method. Our results show that, nonzero temperature can induce the entanglement sudden death and accelerate the decays of discord and entanglement. The discord and the entanglement have different robustness for different initial states and their robustness may change under certain conditions. When both the non-Markovian effect and detuning are present simultaneously, due to the memory and feedback effect of non-Markovian reservoirs, the discord and entanglement can be effectively protected even at nonzero temperature by increasing the non-Markovian effect and the detuning.

Non-Markovian dynamics of two non-coupled qubits interacting with two separate reservoirs with different spectral densities

Xiao-Yun Wang, Bang-Fu Ding, Heping Zhao

The dynamics of two non-coupled qubits independently interacting with their reservoirs is solved by the time convolutionless projection operator method. We study two-qubit quantum correlation dynamics for two different types of spectral densities, which are a Lorentzian distribution and an Ohmic spectral density with a Lorentzian—Drude cutoff function. For two qubits initially prepared in the initial Bell state, quantum discord can keep longer time and reach larger values in non-Markovian reservoirs for the first spectral distribution or by reducing the cutoff frequency for the second case. For the initial Bell-like state, the dynamic behaviors of quantum discord and entanglement are compared. The results show that a long time of quantum correlation can be obtained by adjusting some parameters in experiment and further confirm that the discord can capture quantum correlation in addition to entanglement.

Quantum correlations in non-Markovian open quantum systems at different ranges of temperature

K. Berrada, Hichem Eleuch

Abstract In this paper, we numerically explore the quantum correlations in a system consisting of two identical qubits, each of them locally interacting with a bosonic reservoir under non-Markovian regime, dissipative quantum system. The influences of Ohmic reservoir with Lorentz–Drude regularization on the quantum discord and entanglement are studied. We analyze the quantum correlations rate in high temperature, intermediate temperature, and low temperature reservoirs, respectively. The dependence of the quantum correlations on the ratio r of the reservoir cutoff frequency and the system oscillator frequency, and temperature k B T shows that the decreasing of the frequency ratio r enhances the amount of quantum correlations between the two qubits, while the increasing of the temperature damages the amount of correlations. More precisely, we find a sudden death of quantum entanglement, that is, the entanglement vanishes as time becomes large for different temperatures. On the other hand, we show in contrast to what happens to entanglement, the quantum discord does not vanish even at high temperatures.

Effectiveness of Non-Markovian Methods for Quantum Discord Dynamics of Non-coupled Two-Qubit System*

Abstract The dissipative dynamics of non-coupled two qubits interacting with independent reservoir is studied by solving the non-Markovian master equation. In order to examine the effectiveness of the Nakajima-Zwanzig and time-convolutionless master equations in the description of quantum correlation dynamics, different coupled regimes are investigated. The comparison between the above two master equation methods for investigating the dynamics of quantum discord is also made. Finally, we further confirm that the two master equations should be applied in different regimes of qubits coupled to their reservoirs, respectively.

Quantum Discord Dynamics of Three Qubits in Non-Markovian Environments

Yan Zhang, Jin‐Ming Liu, Yan-Jie Li

We investigate the dynamics of pairwise quantum discord (QD) for a mixed three-qubit W-type state in three independent non-Markovian reservoirs at zero temperature, each of which is modeled by a leaky cavity with Lorentzian spectral density. The influence of the environment's amount of non-Markovianity, the detuning between the qubit frequency and the cavity centre frequency, and the purity of the initial state on the QD dynamics are analyzed in detail. It is found that in the non-Markovian regime the system-reservoir interactions induce QD revivals and oscillations no matter whether the detuning is zero or not. Moreover, QD can be preserved for a long time if the non-Markovian condition and the detuning condition are satisfied simultaneously.

Population dynamics of excited atoms in non-Markovian environments at zero and finite temperature

Hong‐Mei Zou, Mao-Fa Fang

The population dynamics of a two-atom system, which is in two independent Lorentzian reservoirs or in two independent Ohmic reservoirs respectively, where the reservoirs are at zero temperature or finite temperature, is studied by using the time-convolutionless master-equation method. The influences of the characteristics and temperature of a non-Markovian environment on the population of the excited atoms are analyzed. We find that the population trapping of the excited atoms is related to the characteristics and the temperature of the non-Markovian environment. The results show that, at zero temperature, the two atoms can be effectively trapped in the excited state both in the Lorentzian reservoirs and in the Ohmic reservoirs. At finite temperature, the population of the excited atoms will quickly decay to a nonzero value.
