Abstract

A thermofield quantum Monte Carlo method is formulated in detail and is applied to one-dimensional spin systems as a demonstration of the applicability of the method.Received 12 August 1986DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevB.35.3569©1987 American Physical Society

Thermofield transfer-matrix method and its applications to quantum spin systems

Masuo Suzuki, Hiroshi Betsuyaku

The thermofield transfer-matrix method is formulated in detail and applied to one-dimensional quantum spin systems. The convergence properties of the thermofield transfer matrix are examined in detail by use of the numerically exact method. It is shown that this method is a unification of the quantum transfer-matrix method and projector method, and provides a very powerful means to study a variety of quantum systems.

A New Monte Carlo Approach to Quantum Spin Systems: Direct Evaluation of the Partition Function

Shinji Kadowaki, A. Ueda

A simple Monte Carlo high-temperature expansion method to evaluate the partition function of quantum spin systems which was proposed in the previous paper l) is improved so that all of the needed expansion-coefficients are obtained from interpolating points of less than ten with an interpolation formula. By this improvement, this method is applicable to the finite spin-systems of rather large spin size regardless of dimensionality of the system. As an example, the method is applied to the one-dimensional spin-l/2 isotropic Heisenberg ferromagnetic system.

Quantum-Statistical Monte Carlo Method for Heisenberg Spins

J. W. Lyklema

An exact Monte Carlo method for calculating thermodynamic properties of quantum spin systems is described. Results for one-dimensional ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic systems and for three-dimensional ferromagnetic systems show that the method can be used to study quantum spin systems as extensively as classical spin systems are studied with conventional Monte Carlo methods.
