Abstract

Non-trivial effects of transitions of chaotic and coherent states to squeezed states and also of super-Poissonian to sub-Poissonian statistics in the process of evolution of a two-mode boson system are revealed. The existence of the phonon-condensate state in such a system is predicted.

TIME EVOLUTION OF VARIANCES OF QUADRATURE OPERATORS IN A TWO-MODE BOSON SYSTEM

Alexei Vladimirovich Chizhov, R. G. Nazmitdinov

A two-mode boson system described by a Hamiltonian containing a nonlinear interaction of a general enough form is investigated. Nontrivial effects concerning a transition of a coherent state to a squeezed state and vice versa in the process of evolution of that system are revealed.

Statistical properties of multiphoton time-dependent three-boson coupled oscillators

M. Sebawe Abdalla, Jan Peřina, J. Křepelka

We investigate the quantum statistics of three time-dependent coupled oscillators in the presence of multiphoton processes. The system is connected with the two-atom multiphoton Tavis-Cummings model. The solution of the Heisenberg equations of the motion is obtained in a compact form. We assume that the modes are initially prepared in coherent states, and we discuss nonclassical phenomena (squeezing and sub-Poissonian behavior). Further, we examine the joint quasi-distribution functions as well as photon-number distribution and its factorial moments. The system has shown that the nonclassical effect is apparent in compound modes (1,3) and (2,3). Moreover, the superstructure phenomenon is observed when the photon transition is increased.

Two-mode nonclassical state via superpositions of two-mode coherent states

Chin-lin Chai

The superposition states from several two-mode coherent states are studied. It is shown that under certain conditions the superposition states may exhibit nonclassical effects, such as two-mode squeezing, violation of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality, and sub-Poissonian statistics.

Statistical properties of squeezed Kerr states

Christopher C. Gerry, R. Grobe

We study the statistical properties of squeezed Kerr states generated by squeezing, with a two-photon parametric process, the output of a Kerr medium whose input is coherent light. The squeezing has the effect of allowing the photon statistics to depend on the Kerr nonlinearity. Without the squeezing the statistics are Poissonian, but after squeezing they may be either sub-Poissonian or super-Poissonian. We also study the Q-function quasiprobability distribution for these states and related distributions associated with the quantum-mechanical phase. Finally, we show that quadrature squeezing can be enhanced and that squeezing and sub-Poissonian statistics can coexist.

Non-classical Properties of Two-mode SU(1, 1) Coherent States

Luc Gilles, P. L. Knight

We examine the non-classical properties of two-mode coherent states based on different unitary irreducible representations of SU(1, 1). Such states are generated by the action of the two-mode squeezing operator on initial states of the field containing arbitrary numbers of photons in each of the two modes. If the initial state of the field is a two-mode vacuum state, the final state is of course the two-mode squeezed vacuum. An initial occupation generalizes the idea of a squeezed vacuum to the SU(1, 1) coherent states. We show that fields in such states have remarkable quantum properties such as sub-Poissonian statistics, violations of the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality, strong correlations in the photon number fluctuations and squeezing. Using information theory formalism, we show that these coherent states are less correlated than the usual two-mode squeezed vacuum. Moreover, we show that an initial coherent amplitude contribution, in a large amplitude limit, can result in the reduction of correlations between modes.

Open dynamics of entanglement in mesoscopic bosonic systems

Konrad Schlichtholz, Łukasz Rudnicki

Abstract A key issue in quantum information is finding an adequate description of mesoscopic systems that is simpler than full quantum formalism yet retains crucial information about non-classical phenomena like entanglement. In particular, the study of fully bosonic systems undergoing open evolution is of great importance for the advancement of photonic quantum computing and communication. In this paper, we propose a mesoscopic description of such systems based on boson number correlations. This description allows for tracking Markovian open evolution of entanglement of both non-Gaussian and Gaussian states and their sub-Poissonian statistics. It can be viewed as a generalization of the reduced state of the field formalism (Alicki 2019 Entropy 21 705), which by itself does not contain information about entanglement. As our approach adopts the structure of the description of two particles in terms of first quantization, it allows for broad intuitive usage of known tools. Using the proposed formalism, we show the robustness of entanglement against low-temperature damping for four-mode bright squeezed vacuum state and beam-splitted single photon. We also present a generalization of the Mandel Q parameter. Building upon this, we show that the entanglement of the state obtained by beam splitting of a single occupied mode is inherited from sub-Poissonian statistics of the input state.
