Two-mode nonclassical state via superpositions of two-mode coherent states

Abstract

The superposition states from several two-mode coherent states are studied. It is shown that under certain conditions the superposition states may exhibit nonclassical effects, such as two-mode squeezing, violation of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality, and sub-Poissonian statistics.

Nonclassical features of entangled coherent states

Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmad, Syed Hamad Bukhari, Salman Naeem Khan +3 more

Nonclassical features of entangled coherent states (two-mode superposition coherent states) based on two coherent states shifted in phase by π/2 are discussed. Analysis of Cauchy–Schwartz inequality, two-mode quadrature squeezing, oscillatory and sub-Poissonian photon statistics show that nonclassicality exists for these states. Furthermore, it is also observed that special states have remarkably strong nonclassical properties than the entangled coherent states based on famous even–odd coherent states.

Nonclassical properties of correlated two-mode Schrödinger cat states

Christopher C. Gerry, R. Grobe

We generalize the concept of Schr\"odinger cat states to macroscopic superpositions of two pairs coherent states. We show that these states can have various nonclassical features such as the violation of the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality, sub-Poissonian photon-number statistics, and squeezing. We propose schemes to generate these states.

Generation and Properties of Two-Mode Circular States

Zhang Ke-Fu, Zhongjie Wang

Two-mode circular states, which are superposition states from some two-mode coherent states, are studied theoretically. It is shown that under certain conditions two-mode circular states may exhibit nonclassical effects, such as sub-Poissonian statistics and intermode correlation. We propose schemes to generate two-mode circular states by the interaction of a trapped ion with traveling wave lasers.

Nonclassicality of two-mode states of the quantized radiation field

Adrian Alexandrescu, Diethard H. Schiller

The second-order coherence (correlation) functions are used to investigate the classicality (nonclassicality) of quantum states, as defined by the existence (nonexistence) of a positive definite (Glauber-Sudarshan) P-representation. We study nonclassical behavior as revealed by sub-Poissonian statistics and/or violation of the classical Cauchy-Schwarz inequality. The two-mode states considered include Bell-like superpositions of Fock states, Schrödinger cat states and the ideal squeezed states.

Two-mode Squeezed Pair Coherent States

Christopher C. Gerry

The properties of states generated by the application of the two-mode squeeze operator to the pair coherent states are studied. These states are the two-mode analogues of the single-mode squeezed states generated by the application of the single-mode squeeze operator to an ordinary coherent state. In the present case there are correlations between the modes and strong non-classical properties are to be expected. We study the statistical properties of the photon number distributions, squeezing, violations of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality, quasiprobability distributions and the phase distributions.

Two-mode intelligent SU(1,1) states

Christopher C. Gerry, R. Grobe

Using the two-mode realization of the su(1,1) Lie algebra, we define new states that equalize the su(1,1) uncertainty relation. We refer to these as two-mode intelligent SU(1,1) states. Due to strong correlations between modes, these states exhibit nonclassical properties such as sub-Poissonian statistics, violations of the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality, squeezing in the superposition of the modes, and sum squeezing. We also study the phase distributions of the states and propose a mechanism by which they may be generated.
