Witnessing Entanglement in Mixed-Particle Quantum Systems

Irma Avdic, David A. Mazziotti

We introduce an entanglement witness that identifies off-diagonal long-range order (ODLRO) -- a distinctive form of entanglement -- in systems containing both fermionic and bosonic particles. By analyzing the particle-hole reduced density matrices of each subsystem, the approach detects ODLRO independently in both fermionic and bosonic sectors and identifies when long-range order develops across the entire mixed-particle system. The witness also quantifies the magnitude of ODLRO within each particle type, revealing how fermionic and bosonic correlations combine to form the total entanglement of the system, including a bosonic condensation of particle-hole pairs driven by many-body correlations rather than particle statistics. Using the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick spin model, we show how the transition from ODLRO localized to one particle type to ODLRO shared by both particle types captures the onset of collective entanglement in a mixed-particle environment, providing new insight into systems where fermionic and bosonic correlations coexist.

Non-Markovian dynamics of quantum systems coupled with several mixed fermionic-bosonic heat baths

A. A. Hovhannisyan, Vazgen Valerikovich Sargsyan, G. G. Adamian +2 more

For the fermionic or bosonic oscillator fully coupled to several heat baths with mixed statistics, the analytical expressions for the occupation numbers are derived within the non-Markovian quantum Langevin approach. Employing two or three heat baths and the Ohmic dissipation with Lorenzian cutoffs, the role of statistics of the system and heat baths in the dynamics of the system is studied.

Quantum sampling in hybrid light-matter systems with mixed statistics

Franziska Barkhausen, Laura Ares, Stefan Schumacher +1 more

Boson sampling is one of the most prominent methods to verify quantum advantage, harnessing the computational complexity of the permanent of a network matrix. Similar quantum sampling problems utilize other expressions for the output probabilities, such as the fermion-based analog applying determinants. In this work, we study sampling setups of interacting light-matter systems, combining fermion and boson sampling. The mixed network input consists of fermionic and bosonic excitations. Sampling the output probability of the modes then yields contributions that are neither purely determinant nor permanent but general immanants. Specifically, we prove that these immanant contributions are linearly independent from determinants and permanents, rendering our mixed sampling network an ideal candidate for light-matter quantum application beyond pure fermion and boson sampling. Furthermore, quantum sampling with statistics that are neither bosonic nor fermionic results in expressions which even exceed immanants, further extending the functionality of quantum samplers.
