Abstract

We present an analysis of spectroscopic data concerning the long-range molecular state $(6{s}_{1∕2}+6{p}_{1∕2}){0}_{u}^{+}$ of $^{133}\mathrm{Cs}_{2}$ [M. Pichler, H. Chen, and W. C. Stwalley, J. Chem. Phys. 121, 1796 (2004)] by using the Lu-Fano method coupled to the improved LeRoy-Bernstein formula. The obtained Lu-Fano graph exhibits the coupling of molecular series to the $(6{s}_{1∕2}+6{p}_{3∕2}){0}_{u}^{+}$ state. The coupling is due to the spin effects in the molecule. A two-channel model involving the improved LeRoy-Bernstein formula allows us to characterize the molecular series, to localize the perturbing levels, to evaluate the coupling in the vicinity of each perturbing level (five observed for Cs) in a two-level approach and in a more accurate multilevel description. Furthermore, we predict the energy and the width of the first predissociated level.

Photoassociation spectroscopy of Rb287(5s1∕2+5p1∕2)0u+ long-range molecular states: Coupling with the (5s1∕2+5p3∕2)0u+ series analyzed using the Lu-Fano approach

Haikel Jelassi, B. Viaris de Lesegno, Laurence Pruvost

We report on photoassociation of cold $^{87}\mathrm{Rb}$ atoms providing the spectroscopy of $(5{s}_{1∕2}+5{p}_{1∕2}){0}_{u}^{+}$ long-range molecular states, in the energy range of [$\ensuremath{-}12.5$, $\ensuremath{-}0.7\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$] below the dissociation limit. A Lu-Fano approach coupled to the LeRoy-Bernstein formula is used to analyze the data. The Lu-Fano graph exhibits the coupling of the molecular series with the $(5{s}_{1∕2}+5{p}_{3∕2}){0}_{u}^{+}$ one, which is due to spin effects in the molecule. A two-channel model involving an improved LeRoy-Bernstein formula allows us to characterize the molecular series, to localize $(5{s}_{1∕2}+5{p}_{3∕2}){0}_{u}^{+}$ levels, to evaluate the coupling, and to predict the energy and width of the first predissociated level of $(5{s}_{1∕2}+5{p}_{3∕2}){0}_{u}^{+}$ series. An experimental spectrum confirms the prediction.

Reanalysis of the photoassociation spectrum of the weakly binding (6S 1/2 + 6P 3/2 ) 1 g 133 Cs 2 levels, reported in the previous study J. Mol. Spectro. 255 (2009) 106], is performed by using a Lu-Fano graph coupled to the improved LeRoy-Bernstein formula including two additional modified terms. A more accurate coefficient (c 3 ) is obtained for the leading long-range potential (-c 3 /R 3 ) of a diatomic molecule.

Photoassociation spectroscopy of Rb287 (5s1∕2+5p1∕2)0g− long-range molecular states: Analysis by Lu-Fano graph and improved LeRoy-Bernstein formula

Haikel Jelassi, B. Viaris de Lesegno, Laurence Pruvost

We report on cold atom photoassociation of $^{87}\mathrm{Rb}$ giving spectroscopy data of the $(5{s}_{1∕2}+5{p}_{1∕2}){0}_{g}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ long-range molecular states in the asymptotic range of [$\ensuremath{-}12.5\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$, $\ensuremath{-}1.5\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$] below the dissociation limit. Using a Lu-Fano approach to analyze the data, we show that an improved LeRoy-Bernstein model has to be applied. This approach lets us determine the phase shift of the wave function at the dissociation limit of the ${0}_{g}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ series.

Resonances in the rotational constants of $0_{g}^{-}(6s_{1/2}+6p_{1/2})$ Cs 2 levels analysed by an improved-B v -formula associated to a 2-channel model

Haikel Jelassi, Laurence Pruvost

Spin-orbit coupling in 0 g − ( 6 s 1 / 2 + 6 p 1 / 2 ) long-range molecular levels of Cs 2 assigned to resonances in the rotational constant ( B v ) spectrum (L ignier L. et al. , Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. , 13 (2011) 18910; P ichler M. et al. , J. Chem. Phys. , 121 (2004) 1796) has been analyzed with a model which associates an improved- B v -formula (established here) and a 2-channel model. The approach explains the Lorentzian shape of the observed resonances superimposing a non-horizontal background and the fit of the B v -spectrum allows us to deduce the spin-orbit coupling parameters. We compare this approach with an analysis of the binding energies using the vibrational quantum defect (VQD). The good agreement between the methods lets one conclude that the improved- B v -formula associated with a 2-channel model provides a pertinent approach for analyzing coupled molecular series.
