Generation of N-photon phase squeezed states by interference of downconverted photon pairs with weak coherent light

Holger Friedrich Hofmann, Takafumi Ono

We show that the interference between photon pairs emitted by spontaneous parametric downconversion and coherent laser light generates a class of N-photon phase squeezed states characterized by a single squeezing parameter given by N times the ratio of the downconversion amplitude and the squared coherent amplitude.

Light with even Fock states from interference of Kerr-squeezed light

Ziv Abelson, Shimshon Bar-Ad

We demonstrate the generation of nonclassical light by destructive interference of identical Kerr-squeezed states. Perfect pairwise cancellation of amplitudes that contribute to odd Fock states results in light with only even Fock states, independent of the strength of the nonlinearity. The observability of this effect is only limited by the quality of the interferometer. In the low nonlinearity limit, the even-only state resembles a squeezed vacuum state, yet the even-odd oscillations persist when the nonlinearity is strong. The effect is also robust against deviations from the optimum relative phase of the input Kerr-squeezed states.

Generation of Squeezed State of Mirror Motion in Dissipative Optomechanical System

Gao‐xiang Li

We report two schemes of generating squeezed state of the mirror motion in a dissipative optome-chanical system, where feeding a broadband squeezed-vacuum light and periodically modulating the driving field, respectively. In the first scheme, we find that the driven cavity field can effectively perform as a squeezed-vacuum reservoir for the movable mirror via utilizing the completely destructive interference of quantum noise when the mirror is weakly coupled to the cavity mode. In the second scheme, both the numerical and analytical results predict that the squeezed state of the mirror motion around its ground state is achievable, and the obtained squeezed state is robust against the thermal noise because of the strong cooling effect outside the resolved-sideband regime, which also arises from the destructive interference of quantum noise.
