Large- N expansion based on the Hubbard operator path integral representation and its application to the t−J model

A. Foussats, A. Greco

In the present work we have developed a large-$N$ expansion for the $t\ensuremath{-}J$ model based on the path integral formulation for Hubbard operators. Our large-$N$ expansion formulation contains diagrammatic rules, in which the propagators and vertex are written in term of Hubbard operators. Using our large-$N$ formulation we have calculated, for $J=0,$ the renormalized $O(1/N)$ boson propagator. We also have calculated the spin-spin and charge-charge correlation functions to leading order $1/N.$ We have compared our diagram technique and results with existing ones in the literature.

Operator Ordering and Perturbation Expansion in the Path Integral Formalism

M.-a. Sato

The operator ordering problem in the path integral formalism is studied in the context of the perturbation expansion. For a given ordered Hamiltonian, there exists a path integral formula which reproduces the corresponding quantum mechanics, i.e., the same Feynman Wick rules as the operator formalism. The Weyl ordering is shown to play an important role in connecting the discrete path integral (defined on a finite mesh) with the continuous one.

Path integration over compact and noncompact rotation groups

M. Böhm, Georg Junker

Applications of group theoretical methods in the path integral formalism of nonrelativistic quantum theory are considered. Analysis of the symmetry of the Lagrangian leads to the expansion of the short time propagator in matrix elements of unitary irreducible representations of the symmetry group. Identification of the coordinates with the group parameters transforms the path integral to integrals over the group manifold. The integration is performed using the orthogonality of the representations. Compact and noncompact rotation groups are considered, where the corresponding path integral is embedded in Euclidean and pseudo-Euclidean spaces, respectively. The unit sphere and unit hyperboloid may either be viewed as the group manifold itself or at least as a group quotient. In the first case Fourier analysis leads to an expansion in group characters. In the second case an expansion in zonal spherical functions is obtained. As examples the groups SO(n), SU(2), SO(n−1,1), and SU(1,1) are explicitly discussed. The path integral on SO(n+m) and SO(n,m) in bispherical coordinates is also treated.

In the present work we have developed a large-NNN expansion for the $t\ensuremath{-}J$ model based on the path integral formulation for Hubbard operators. Our large-NNN expansion formulation contains diagrammatic rules, in which the propagators and vertex are written in term of Hubbard operators. Using our large-NNN formulation we have calculated, for J=0,J=0,J=0, the renormalized O(1/N)O(1/N)O(1/N) boson propagator. We also have calculated the spin-spin and charge-charge correlation functions to leading order 1/N.1/N.1/N. We have compared our diagram technique and results with existing ones in the literature.
