Magnetic Susceptibility of the Random One‐ Dimensional Transverse Ising Model

Eytan Barouch, Barry M. McCoy

We study the 1‐ dimensional Ising model with random coupling constants in the presence of a transverse magnetic field h. In the nonrandom (translationally invariant) case it is known that there is a value of h for which the magnetic susceptibility diverges logarithmically. We demonstrate that in the random case this logarithmic divergence is smoothed out into an infinitely differentiable essential singularity.

Solution and Critical Behavior of Some "Three-Dimensional" Ising Models with a Four-Spin Interaction

Masuo Suzuki

An exact solution is obtained for some "three-dimensional" Ising models with a four-spin interaction. The spontaneous magnetization is vanishing for all temperatures. The temperature derivative of the susceptibility shows a divergence of the form ${({T}_{c}\ensuremath{-}T)}^{\frac{\ensuremath{-}7}{8}}$ below the critical point. The specific heat shows a logarithmic singularity. Several other related models are introduced with new types of singularities.

The order parameter and induced susceptibility ofc a magnetic of a magnetic field dependent ising model

Ljubisav Novaković

. A two-dimensional Ising model with nearest neighbour exchange interactions among electrons, in the field of a finite intensity, is investigated. By including interactions along a given direction into the structure of the transfer matrix, we pass over from the direct lattice space to the pseudo-spin space. A field dependent unitary transformation in the pseudo-spin space is applied in order to evaluate the partition function exactly. There are two important consequences of the general field dependence of the partition function: (a) The order parameter undergoes a finite discontinuity at the transition temperature; and (b) The induced susceptibility discovers a logarithmic singularity just below the transition temperature. Neither consequence seems to conform with an existing theory of a two-dimensional ferromagnet.
