Universality of the ratio of the critical amplitudes of the magnetic susceptibility in a two-dimensional ising model with nonmagnetic impurities

Oleg A. Vasilyev, Щур Лев Николаевич

The behavior of the magnetic susceptibility of a two-dimensional Ising model with nonmagnetic impurities is investigated numerically. A new method for determining the critical amplitudes and critical temperature is developed. The results of a numerical investigation of the ratio of the critical amplitudes of the magnetic susceptibility are presented. It is shown that the ratio of the critical amplitudes is universal right up to impurity concentrations q ≤ 0.25 (the percolation point of a square lattice is q c = 0.407254). The behavior of the effective critical exponent γ( q ) of the magnetic susceptibility is discussed. Apparently, a transition from Ising-type universal behavior to percolation behavior should occur in a quite narrow concentration range near the percolation point of the lattice.

The two-dimensional spin-1 Ising system and related models

Joan Adler, Ian Graham Enting

Although the two-dimensional spin- 1 / 2 Ising model was solved in zero field in 1944, no exact results are yet available for the spin-1 model. This model should have the same dominant critical exponents as the spin- 1 / 2 model, but appears to exhibit non-analytic corrections to scaling as expected for a phi 4 model and unlike the spin- 1 / 2 model. In this paper new 45-term low temperature series for the magnetisation, specific heat and susceptibility of the spin-1 model on the square lattice are presented and analysed. A new 24-term staggered susceptibility series for the hard square model is presented and the extant order parameter series for this model (which is also in the phi 4 universality class) are also considered. For both models a non-analytic confluent correction with exponent 1.0< Delta 1 <1.3 is found. The validity of this result is enhanced by a comparison with the S= 1 / 2 case.

Critical Slowing Down in the Kinetic Ising Model

Hideo Yahata, Masuo Suzuki

A simple dynamical model of interacting Ising spins is discussed near the critical point. It is shown that all the moments are positive and never vanish even at the critical point. Lower and upper bounds of the susceptibility are obtained, which yield the non-vanishing of the real part of the susceptibility. This gives a simple proof for the poly-dispersive nature of our system. The method of high temperature expansions for the dynamical susceptibility is presented and is applied to the two-dimensional Ising model up to the ninth order, the results of which show that the critical index of slowing down (the relaxation time τ (1) ∝( T - T c ) - Δ ; Δ =2±0.05) is different from that of the static susceptibility.
