Control of Sudden Death of Entanglement by Transient Effects

Abstract

We investigate the properties of entanglement between an isolated atom and a Jaynes—Cummings atom in the presence of transient effects. These effects are due to the modulation of the atom-field coupling whose explicit time-dependence is considered for the case of the linear sweep. We show that the sudden death of entanglement can be controlled by the transient effects. These effects can suppress the sudden death of entanglement in time.

We investigate entanglement dynamics of two isolated atoms, each in its own Jaynes–Cummings cavity. We show analytically that initial entanglement has an interesting subsequent time evolution, including the so-called sudden death effect.

Time evolution and transfer of entanglement between an isolated atom and a Jaynes–Cummings atom

Zhi-Jian Li, Jun‐Qi Li, Yan-Hong Jin +1 more

We investigate the entanglement dynamics of two space-separated atoms, one of them in Jaynes–Cummings cavity and the other isolated completely. We show analytically that initial entanglement has an interesting subsequent time evolution and transfer, including the so-called sudden death effect. A little inconsistency of concurrence and negativity is indicated qualitatively to measure the two-qubit states.

The Control of Entanglement in a Damped Jaynes-Cummings Model by Transient Effects

Hünkar Kayhan

In this work, we study the entanglement dynamics of the damped JaynesCummings model with the transient eects modeled as the linear sweep of the coupling coecient between the atom and the eld.We show that the decoherence of the entanglement can be controlled by the transient eects under the inuence of damping. These eects can accelerate and can decelerate the decoherence of the entanglement during the time-evolution of the system, by adjusting the frequency of the Rabi oscillations.

Control of entanglement sudden death by Kerr medium

Qiang Zheng, Xiaoping Zhang, Zhongzhou Ren

The entanglement dynamics of system, where atoms A and B interact with single mode cavity fields a and b respectively, is studied. The interaction between atom A and cavity a may be described by using the typical Jaynes–Cummings model, while that between the atom B and cavity b filled with a Kerr medium is of a two-photon process. For a certain initial atom entanglement state, there is an entanglement sudden death effect between the two atoms. The Kerr medium in the cavity b can effectively prevent the undesirable entanglement sudden death from occurring. Also, from the viewpoint of the population dynamics, we discuss why the Kerr medium can do so.

The entanglement between two isolated atoms in the double mode–mode competition model

Qin Wu, Mao-Fa Fang, Cai Jian-Wu +1 more

Extending the double Jaynes–Cummings model to a more complicated case where the mode–mode competition is considered, we investigate the entanglement character of two isolated atoms by means of concurrence, and discuss the dependence of atom–atom entanglement on the different initial state and the relative coupling strength between the atom and the corresponding cavity field. The results show that the amplitude and the period of the atom–atom entanglement evolution can be controlled by the choice of initial state and relative coupling strength, respectively. We find that the phenomenon of entanglement sudden death (ESD) is sensitive to the initial conditions. The length of the time interval for zero entanglement depends not only on the initial degree of entanglement between two atoms but also on the relative coupling strength of atom–field interaction. The ESD effect can be weakened by enhancing the mode–mode competition between the three- and single-photon processes.

Delaying disappearance of entanglement by the linear modulation of atom-field coupling

Yao-Hua Hu, Yong-Gang Tan

By considering a double Jaynes–Cummings (JC) model with linear modulation of the atom-field coupling coefficients, we investigate the entanglement evolution between two atoms, and focuss on the effect of the linear sweep on the entanglement. The results show that the entanglement is very sensitive to the linear modulation of the atom-field coupling coefficients. Both for one-photon processes and for two-photon processes, the disappearance of the initial entanglement is delayed due to the linear modulation as compared to the double standard JC model, and the delayed time is long or short depending on the value of the parameters in the modulation function. Moreover, the entanglement of the two atoms in the double standard JC model disappears periodically. However, this periodicity is completely lost in the linear modulation case. In addition, the larger the photon numbers in the cavities, the shorter the delayed time of the disappearance of the initial entanglement.
