Abstract

Abstract A spin‐1 Ising model with the presence of transverse and crystal fields (CTIM) is studied within the scheme of the finite cluster approximation (FCA). The phase diagrams and the other critical behaviour are numerically investigated for the honeycomb lattice. FCA yields results which are superior to those of the standard mean‐field approximation (MFA).

Effect of a crystal field on phase transitions in a spin-1 transverse Ising model

Xuefan Jiang, Jialiang Li, Jialin Zhong +1 more

Within an effective-field approximation, general expressions for evaluating the second-order phase-transition line and tricritical point of the spin-1 transverse Ising model with the presence of a crystal field are obtained with the Honmura-Kaneyoshi differential-operator technique. The phase diagrams and the behavior of the tricritical point are investigated numerically for the honeycomb lattice.

Phase diagram of the mixed spin transverse Ising model with four-spin Interactions

Noureddine Benayad, M. Ghliyem

The two dimensional mixed spin system consisting of spin-1/2 and spin-1 with four-spin interactions exhibits tricritical behaviour. The influence of a transverse field on this behaviour is studied with the finite cluster approximation based on a single-site cluster theory. The state equations are derived for the square lattice. It has been shown that the system keeps its tricritical behaviour, but when the strength of the transverse field approaches a critical value, all transitions become of second-order for any value of four-spin interaction.

Properties of the ground state in a spin-2 transverse Ising model with the presence of a crystal field

Jiang Wei, Guozhu Wei, An Du +1 more

The properties of the ground state in the spin-2 transverse Ising model with the presence of a crystal field are studied by using the effective-field theory with correlations. The longitudinal and transverse magnetizations, the phase diagram and the internal energy in the ground state are given numerically for a honeycomb lattice (z = 3).

Abstract The phase diagram and other critical properties of the Ising model of spin‐3/2 in a random transverse field (RTIM) and spin‐5/2 in a transverse field (TIM) are investigated within the approximate scheme which is combined by mean‐field renormalization group theory (MFRG) with the discretized pathintegral representation (DPIR).
