Quantum Logic Gate Operating on Atomic Scattering by Standing Wave Field in Bragg Regime

Abstract

A simple scheme for a universal two-bit quantum logic gate is proposed. The scheme uses well defined atomic center-of-mass momentum states interacting with a resonant cavity field in Bragg regime. The cavity field state controls the atomic momentum state while passing through the cavity. The cavity field state acting as controller logic bit and the atomic momentum state as controlled logic bit together perform as a universal quantum logic gate.

A scheme for quantum logic gate based on coherent-state qubits in cavity QED system

Shi-Qing Tang, Shunlong Luo, Jiayi Xu

A two-qubit quantum swap gate scheme based on coherent state qubit is proposed in cavity quantum electrodynamics system. Our scheme adopt the interaction between the Λ-type atomic ensemble and the two-mode optical cavity, and the swap gate can be realized directly only one step, so as to save a lot of quantum resources and reduce the number of single qubit rotation operations in the actual quantum information processing. It is found that under the condition of large detuning limit, the excited states of atoms are adiabatically eliminated, and the decoherence caused by the spontaneous emission of atoms is effectively suppressed. All atoms in the optical cavity are universally addressed, which reduces the experimental operation difficulty of the scheme. The fidelity of the quantum logic gate is maintained at a very high level when the photon loss of the cavity field is considered. Compared with the single-atom scheme, it is found that the atom-cavity interaction time required by the atomic ensemble scheme is inversely proportional to the number of atoms, so that the speed of the quantum logic gate can be increased by N times. Therefore, in principle, as long as enough atoms interacting with the optical field, an effective coupling of any atom-cavity field can be generated, which is conducive to selecting the appropriate quantum gate operation time in practical operation and effectively avoiding decoherence.

A SCHEME FOR REALIZATION OF TWO-QUBIT LOGIC GATES IN CAVITY QED

Bao‐Long Fang, Hong-Bo Wan, Ye Liu

We propose a simple scheme for realizing two-qubit logic gate in cavity QED. In our scheme, the quantum controlled-not gate, phase gate and swap gate can be implemented without the ancillary level. The quantum controlled-not gate and phase gate can be realized easily by only one interaction between atoms and a highly detuned cavity mode with the assistance of a strong classical field. Thus, the scheme is insensitive to both the cavity decay and the thermal field.

Quantum logic gates for two atoms with a single resonant interaction

Shi‐Biao Zheng

A scheme is presented for realizing two-atom quantum logic gates with a single resonant interaction. The scheme does not use the cavity mode as the data bus and only requires a single resonant interaction of the atoms with a cavity mode. Thus the scheme is very simple and the interaction time is very short, which is important in view of decoherence. Quantum information can be directly transferred from one atom to another atom using this idea. The scheme can also be generalized to the ion trap system.

Demonstration of a Fundamental Quantum Logic Gate

Christopher R. Monroe, D. M. Meekhof, B. E. King +2 more

We demonstrate the operation of a two-bit "controlled-NOT" quantum logic gate, which, in conjunction with simple single-bit operations, forms a universal quantum logic gate for quantum computation. The two quantum bits are stored in the internal and external degrees of freedom of a single trapped atom, which is first laser cooled to the zero-point energy. Decoherence effects are identified for the operation, and the possibility of extending the system to more qubits appears promising.
