This paper proposes a singular, universal axiom: the Law of Symmetric Binary Opposition as a foundational principle from which the dynamics of all observable and conceivable phenomena can be coherently derived. The framework posits that reality is fundamentally structured by active, equipotent opposites with equal ontological weight but opposing polarity (+1 and –1), transcending asymmetric binary models (e.g., 1/0, being/nothingness). The theory introduces the imaginary axis (+i, –i) as the carrier of latent potential and unrealised states, completing the complex plane of existence. A Carrier Equilibrium Index (CEI) is defined as a universal measure of dynamic balance, incorporating parameters such as Jitter, Torsion, Hysteresis, and an Energy Cessation Factor (the latter expressing the Teleology of Cessation). The law manifests as the fundamental symmetries of quantum field theory, the survival imperative of complex systems, and the architecture of conscious agency. A dynamical equation governing the transition from latent potential to manifest reality is introduced, culminating in the signature equation: 𝑧̇=− 𝛾𝛾 (𝐸−𝐸0) 𝑖 𝑧, where 𝑧𝑧=𝑎𝑎+𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖 (real part 𝑎𝑎 = manifest polarity, imaginary part 𝑏 = latent potential), 𝐸𝐸 is the Carrier Equilibrium Index, 𝐸𝐸0 the healthy equilibrium, and 𝛾𝛾 a universal coupling constant. This equation provides a quantitative, testable mechanism for the collapse of latent potential into manifest states. The framework offers a parsimonious metaphysical substrate that unifies principles across scales, from quantum measurement to the evolution of complex systems.
A standard laser beam has photon degeneracy, or coherence,
C, of at most
8μ2, where
μ is the number of photons in the laser itself. Even quantum-engineered lasers, if required to produce a beam with the standard statistical properties, have limited coherence, scaling as
μ4. Moreover, such lasers (still unrealised) require very unconventional gain and output-coupling mechanisms. Here, we propose a different path to increasing
C: cascaded linear amplifiers, with conventional couplings. By dropping the requirement on the beam's properties, this approach can, in theory, achieve
C scaling exponentially in
μ. Here
μ is the total source excitation number, across all the amplifiers. Two amplifiers suffice to surpass the standard
μ2 scaling.
