Characteristics of stimulated emission from a rhodamine 6G solution under internal reflection conditions

Abstract

Temperature dependences of the direction of emission of superradiance and of the wavelength of stimulated emission were determined for a solution of rhodamine 6G in an internal reflection configuration. The results obtained were in good agreement with calculations. Some energy, spectral, and angular characteristics of the stimulated radiation were determined. It was also found that dye-activated polymer films could be used as the active media.

Generation of stimulated radiation in a dye solution on reflection from a nonlinear self-induced mirror

Anatolii N Rubinov, Terlan Sh. Efendiev

A report is made of the formation of a phase reflection grating in a solution of a laser dye induced by the radiation emitted by the dye itself (the grating acts as a nonlinear reflector). The results are given of some investigations of the characteristics of the stimulated emission from a solution of rhodamine 6G in a resonator with an exit mirror in the form of a self-induced phase grating.

Observation of inhibited spontaneous emission and stimulated emission of rhodamine 6G in polymer replica of synthetic opal

K. Yoshino, S. B. Lee, Satoshi Tatsuhara +3 more

We report the observation of inhibited spontaneous emission of organic dye rhodamine 6G infiltrated in a polymer replica of synthetic opal as a photonic crystal. The morphology-dependent resonances, superimposed on the broadband emission of rhodamine 6G due to spherical wavelength-sized microcavity enhancement of dye emission, have also been observed.

Polarization of radiation amplified by dye solutions

V. A. Chernyavskii, L. G. Pikulik, K. I. Rudik +1 more

Experimental investigations of the change of polarization state of probing radiation on passing through anisotropically excited solutions of rhodamine 6G and 3,6-tetramethyldiamino- N -methylphthalimide in glycerol were carried out. These investigations allowed us to find the phase anisotropy in these molecular systems. The parameters of the polarization ellipse (the ratio of axes , orientation, direction of rotation) were determined. The main factors (the intensity and orientation of the polarization plane of the probing radiation) influencing these parameters were established. The differences between the refractive indices were designed with the help of the obtained parameters of the polarization ellipse. The spectral behaviour of the amplitude and phase anisotropy for the long-wavelength band of absorption and fluorescence was studied and described qualitatively. The features of the spectral behaviour of for the indicated solutions, which are modelled by different systems of energy levels of the active molecules, were established.

Superluminescence and stimulated emission from unstable photoisomers of polymethine dyes

A. M. Bonch-Bruevich, Калитеевская Елена Николаевна, T. K. Razumova

The criteria governing the superluminescence and stimulated emission from unstable photoisomers of polymethine dyes are studied for the first ime. It is shown that this is an important factor in stimulated emission from polymethines under conditions of anti-Stokes pumping of initial stable molecule solutions. Numerical calculations are made of the gain spectra of polymethine solutions containing photoisomers pumped by radiation of varying spectral composition. Conclusions are drawn on the influence of photoisomerization on the stimulated emission characteristics of these media under different pumping conditions.

Experimental modeling of defocusing as a means for coupling radiation out of an amplifying medium

F. V. Bunkin, Vladimir P Bykov, M. I. Dzhibladze

An experimental investigation was made of defocusing of superradiance in overheated channels formed in a rhodamine 6G solution under the action of pump radiation. The advantages of defocusing, including the feasibility of operation under saturation conditions, the long length of active medium, the highly directional coupling out of the energy, and the single-mode radiation are discussed with reference to thin-layer lasers.

Reflection-Induced Light Correlation in Spontaneous Emission in Front of a Mirror

Hiroshi Taniguchi, Hiroshi Yamada, Tamiya Fujiwara +3 more

It is shown that fluorescence spectra from a dye-doped polymer film in front of a mirror exhibit angular and spectral localization effects caused by self-interference in the spontaneous emission. Spectral results obtained experimentally, which are dependent on film thickness, are found to be in good agreement with the calculated results predicted by a semiclassical description.
