Abstract

The possibility of advance and delay effects for the light induction, one-pulse, locked, two-humped and nutation photon echo (PE) signals is shown. The primary and stimulated backward echo-signals are considered also. A possible scheme of experimental realization for the case of nutation PE is discussed.

Excitation of photon echo by pulses modulated with Barker codes

Баруздин Сергей Анатольевич

The excitation of the primary and stimulated photon echoes by pulses modulated in phase with Barker codes is modeled. The shape of the complex envelopes of the primary and stimulated echoes is found by solving the optical Bloch equations. Linear and nonlinear excitation modes are considered. In linear modes, it is possible to realize a time delay and form the correlation function of modulated pulses. The results obtained can be used in modeling and analyzing the corresponding algorithms of the photon echo excitation and in calculating the characteristics of signal processors based on the phenomena of photon and spin echoes.

Photon echo possibilities with information processing in hypercomplex space

Anatolii N. Leukhin, Ivan I. Popov

Mode of photon echo (PE) exciting is theoretically considered, when in quality the pulse-code is used a set of pulses with the different time and polarizing characteristics. It is offered to consider a combination of polarizing and peak-time characteristics of a PE signal in algebra of quaternion. A principle of information processing with quaternion representation of signals is experimentally realized.

The kinetic processes of free light induction and stimulated photon echo on the ions accelerated by the electric field in plasma have been investigated. We show that it is possible to transform the information characteristics of the coherent optical pulses based on the acceleration effects.

Time reversal of optical nutation signals

Yu Bai, Arjun G. Yodh, THOMAS W. MOSSBERG

Optical nutation signals are found to be modified in interesting ways by a short, intense, excitation pulse. In particular, pulses of appropriate character are found to effect a time reversal of the optical nutation signal, i.e., the nutation signal after the short pulse evolves as the mirror image of the nutation signal before the pulse. In ideal cases, all dephasing effects resulting from inhomogeneous broadening are reversed, and a nutation echo occurs when all atoms rephase in the excited state. Various excitation conditions that lead to the time reversal of optical nutation signals are considered, and numerical simulations are compared with experimental results. Finally, the rephasing considered here is compared to that observed in the case of rotary echoes.
