Abstract

We have formulated the Bethe-like approximation for the one-dimensional \(S=\frac{1}{2}\) transverse Ising model in the ground state, and estimated the critical phenomenon of its correlation function using the coherent-anomaly method (CAM). We have calculated up to the 21-spin approximations, and obtained g c * =0.5000±0.0006, ν=1.01±0.01 and ην=0.26±0.01.

CAM approach to the ground-state phase transition in the two-dimensional transverse Ising model

Yoshihiko Nonomura, Masuo Suzuki

The double-cluster approximation (DCA) and the multi-effective-field approximation (MEFA) are formulated for the two-dimensional S=1/2 transverse Ising model on a square lattice in the ground state. These two cluster-effective-field approximations expand the sizes of clusters effectively. Combining some suitable series of these approximations with the coherent-anomaly method (CAM), the authors have analysed the critical phenomenon of this model. They have obtained g * c =1.528+or-0.016 and gamma =1.25+or-0.08 using the DCA, and gamma =1.26+or-0.10 using the MEFA. These estimates are consistent with the other results, g * c approximately=1.52 and gamma approximately=1.24. Their scheme is expected to be useful in the study of frustrated systems, because various shapes of clusters can be used in their calculations.

Coherent-anomaly method in zero-temperature phase transitions in quantum spin systems

Yoshihiko Nonomura, Masuo Suzuki

A cluster-effective-field theory, called the double-cluster approximation, is formulated for quantum spin systems at T=0. Combining this approximation with the coherent-anomaly method (CAM), critical phenomena in such systems can be analysed. To test their theory, the authors have estimated the critical points and critical exponents of the one-dimensional S=1/2 transverse Ising model and the one-dimensional S=1/2 XZ model. The estimates are in good agreement with the exact solutions. These results show that the CAM approach is useful in treating zero-temperature phase transitions in quantum spin systems.

COHERENT-ANOMALY METHOD FOR QUANTUM SPIN SYSTEMS

Nobuyasu Ito, Masuo Suzuki

The coherent-anomaly method (CAM) is applied to the Heisenberg model to test the applicability of the CAM for quantum spin systems. The Weiss, Bethe and constant coupling approximations are tried for the Heisenberg model on the simple cubic lattice and estimate the critical exponents of the susceptibility and spontaneous magnetization using the CAM. The results show that the CAM is also powerful for quantum spin systems. The detailed results of the Bethe approximation of the spin-1/2 isotropic Heisenberg model are presented.

Coherent-Anomaly Analysis with Cluster Variation Methodfor Spin-Pair Correlation Function of Ising Modelon Square Lattice

Kazuyuki Tanaka, Tsuyoshi Horiguchi, Tohru Morita

The spin-pair correlation functions in the Ising model on the square lattice are obtained in three approximations of the simplified cluster variation method. We find good estimates of the critical exponents ην, γ and ν, by applying the coherent-anomaly method to the obtained spin-pair correlation functions.

The CAM Calculation of Critical Exponent ν by the Cluster Variation Method

Koh Wada, Naotoshi Watanabe

The critical exponent ν of correlation length is calculated on the basis of the coherent anomaly method (CAM) by using the pair, the cactus-square and the square approximations of the cluster variation method (CVM) in the D (≥2)-dimensional cubic lattice of the Ising model. These simple analytical approximations give good values of critical exponent ν and critical temperature in the two- and three-dimensional lattices. However, further consideration is needed to determine a critical dimension in the D -dimensional Ising model by the CAM.

Coherent-Anomaly Method in Critical Phenomena. V. Estimation of the Dynamical Critical ExponentΔof the Two-Dimensional Kinetic Ising Model

Makoto Katori, Masuo Suzuki

The coherent-anomaly method (CAM) is applied to the kinetic Ising model. Dynamical cluster-mean-field approximations are formulated to obtain a series of the dynamical mean-field critical coefficients. The coherent-anomaly scaling relations are derived on the basis of the scaling form of the generating function in nonequilibrium systems to estimate the exponent Δ of the critical slowing down. The dynamical critical exponent is estimated as \({\varDelta}{\backsimeq}2.15({\pm}0.02)\) for the kinetic Ising model on the two-dimensional triangular lattice.
