Raman scattering: a coherent mediator for quantum technologies

Philip J. Bustard, Rune Lausten, Benjamin Sussman

Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) is a powerful tool for the manipulation and articulation of quantum systems. I will discuss SRS as a tool to mediate the transfer of coherence between light and matter, and describe some practical applications in the development of quantum technologies.

Heralded single-phonon preparation in diamond

Santiago Tarrago Velez, Kilian Seibold, Mitchell D. Anderson +2 more

Mechanical oscillators have key technological applications, but extending their use for quantum technologies requires creating well defined quantum states. We demonstrate that we can create the n=1 phonon Fock state in diamond by using a combination of Raman scattering from ultra-fast laser pulses and time-correlated single photon counting.

Brief Introduction to Current Researches on Slow Light

Fan Yang

This paper is to introduce the significance of slow light technical research, the latest progress on slow light technology and four methods of slow light: electromagnetically induced transparency, coherent population oscillation, stimulated Brillouin scattering, stimulated Raman scattering, and compare the advantages and disadvantages of these four methods by using photonic crystal waveguides. In the end, introduction to the application of slow light in systems such as all-optical telecommunication technology and quantum computation etc.is also presented.
