Abstract

Some misconceptions in an article on the so called “Lewis phase” and quantum geometric phase in Chinese are critically reviewed. We point out the wrong statements given in the paper published in College Physics 21 23,written in Chinese.

Comment on ``Cyclic quantum-evolution dependence on the Hamiltonian and geometric phase''

It is shown that the analysis and the main result of the article by L-A. Wu [Phys. Rev. A 53, 2053 (1996)] are completely erroneous.

LEWIS-RIESENFELD PHASES AND BERRY PHASES IN THEQUANTUM SYSTEM OF TIME-DEPENDENT HARMONICOSCILLATOR WITH A MOVING BOUNDARY

Li Ling, Bo‐Zang Li, Liang Jiu-Qing +1 more

Using the Lewis-Riesenfeld′s quantum invariant theory, the Lewis-Riesenfeld phases for a time-dependent frequency harmonic oscillator, which is confined in an infinite well with a moving wall, are calculated. We find that the geometric part of the Lewis-Riesenfeld phases are identical with the “non-adiabatic Berry phases” described by D.Y.Liu in Acta Phys.Sin.It may be important that our results,at least for the system with a sinusoidally oscillating boundary,do not show any non-trivial Berry phase acquired.

The Exact Solution and Geometric Phase for the SU (1, 1) System

Jing‐Bo Xu, Tiezheng Qian, Xiao-Chun Gao

The exact solution and time evolution operator for the SC7(1, 1) system are obtained by making use of the Lewis-Riesenfeld theory. The time-evolution operator is used to derive the Aharonov-Anandan phase. The noncyclic evolution is then discussed with the help of the Aharonov-Anandan phase. Finally, the Berry phase is calculated by taking the adiabatic limit. © 1991 IOP Publishing Ltd.

NOTES ON THE QUANTUM INVARIANT AND ON THE-RELATION BETWEEN IT AND QUANTUM PHASE

Bo‐Zang Li, ZHANG LING-YUN, Zhang Xiang-dong +1 more

Based on the construction theorem of quantum invariant, the results of Lewis and Riesenfeld are rededuced in a much simpler way and extended significantly.Meanwhile,it is pointed out that the Lewis Riesenfeld phases are in general not of physical meaning unless the invariants take specific forms which have been worked out.As an example, the spin system in a magnetic field is discussed in detail.
