Abstract

A scheme is presented to generate atomic entanglement by detecting the transmission spectrum of a coupledcavity system. In the scheme, two 3-level atoms are trapped in separate cavities coupled by a short optical fiber, and the atomic entanglement could be realized in a heralded way by detecting the transmission spectrum of the coupled-cavity system.

Deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement for two atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities

Sai-Yun Ye, Zhi‐Rong Zhong, Shi‐Biao Zheng

A scheme is proposed for the deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement of two distant atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities connected by an optical fiber. Employing adiabatic passage along dark states, the atoms are always in ground states, in particular, the fiber mode remains in the vacuum state due to the quantum destructive interference, and the population of the cavities being excited can be negligible under certain conditions. In this sense, our scheme constructs an effective way to avoid the atomic spontaneous emission and the decays of fiber and cavities.

Dispersive atom-field interaction scheme for three-dimensional entanglement between two spatially separated atoms

Xin‐You Lü, Jibing Liu, Chunling Ding +1 more

We propose a scheme for deterministically generating three-dimensional (3D) entanglement between two distant five-level atoms based on the dispersive atom-field interaction. In our scheme, the two atoms are trapped separately in two spatially separated optical cavities coupled by an optical fiber. To check the experimental feasibility of our scheme, we numerically simulated effects of the atomic spontaneous decay and photon leakage out of the fiber, and the numerical simulation shows that those effects can be suppressed by appropriately choosing the frequency detuning of atom-field and the coupling intensity of cavity fiber, respectively. We also discussed the influence of photon leakage out of the cavities, and the strictly numerical simulation shows our proposal is good enough to demonstrate the generation of 3D entanglement with high fidelity and within the current experimental technology.

Heralded generation of entanglement with coupled cavities

Jaeyoon Cho, Dimitris G. Angelakis, Sougato Bose

We propose a scheme to generate two-photon, two-atom, or atom-photon entangled states with a coupled system of two cavities. In our scheme, two cavity photons are exchanged by the direct intercavity coupling, while atoms in the cavities simply generate and probe them. By virtue of the high efficiency of atomic state measurement, this method enables the realization of efficient heralded entanglement generation which is robust against photon loss, which greatly facilitates applications in quantum-information processing.

Generation of Entangled Coherent States for Two Separate Cavities

Li-Hua Lin

We propose a scheme for the generation of entangled coherent states for two separate cavities connected by an optical fiber. In the scheme, an atom is trapped in the first cavity and driven by a strong classical field. Under the condition that the cavity-fiber coupling is much larger than the atom-cavity coupling, the two cavity modes evolve from a vacuum state to entangled coherent states correlated with the atomic states. During the evolution, the fiber mode is not excited and the fiber loss does not affect the fidelity of the produced state.

Entangling Two Atomic Ensembles Trapped in Separated Cavities

Shi‐Biao Zheng, LU Dao-ming

We propose a scheme for the generation of two collections of atoms trapped in distant cavities connected by an optical fiber. The virtual photon exchange leads to the entanglement between these two atomic ensembles. During the operation the atomic system, cavity modes, and fiber are not excited, which is important in view of decoherence.
