Abstract

We propose a scheme for generating bipartite and multipartite entangled squeezed states via the Jaynes-cummings model with large detuning.Bipartite entanglement of these entangled states is quantified by the concurrence. We also use the N-tangle to compupter multipartite entanglement of these multipartites entangled squeezed states. Finally we discuss two limiting cases which arise from r→∞and r→0,in which the multipartite entangled squeezed state reduces correspondingly into an N-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state and an N-qubit W state.

Characterization of multipartite entanglement

Bo Chong

In this thesis, we discuss several aspects of the characterization of entanglement in multipartite quantum systems, including detection, classification and quantification of entanglement. First, we discuss triqubit pure entanglement and propose a special true tripartite entanglement, the mixed entanglement, besides the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entanglement and the W entanglement. Then, based on quantitative complementarity relations, we draw entanglement Venn diagrams for triqubit pure states with different entanglements and introduce the total tangle Tau sup(T) to quantify total entanglement of triqubit pure states by defining the union I that is equivalent to the total tangle Tau sup(T) from the mathematical point of view. The generalizations of entanglement Venn diagrams and the union I to N-qubit pure states are also discussed. Finally, based on the ranks of reduced density matrices, we discuss the separability of multiparticle arbitrary -dimensional pure and mixed states, respectively.

Multipartite entangled coherent states

Xiaoguang Wang, Barry C. Sanders

We propose a scheme for generating multipartite entangled coherent states via entanglement swapping, with an example of a physical realization in ion traps. Bipartite entanglement of these multipartite states is quantified by the concurrence. We also compute multipartite entanglement for certain systems. Finally we establish that these results for entanglement can be applied to more general multipartite entangled nonorthogonal states.

Scheme for generating entangled states of two field modes in a cavity

Jonas Larson

This paper considers a two-level atom interacting with two cavity modes with equal frequencies. Applying a unitary transformation, the system reduces to the analytically solvable Jaynes–Cummings model. For some particular field states, coherent and squeezed states, the transformation between the two bare bases, related by the unitary transformation, becomes particularly simple. It is shown how to generate (the highly non-classical) entangled coherent states of the two modes, both in the zero and large detuning cases. An advantage of the zero detuning case is that the preparation is deterministic and no atomic measurement is needed. For the large detuning situation, a measurement is required, leaving the field in either of two orthogonal entangled coherent states.

Exact quantification of bipartite entanglement in unresolvable spin ensembles

Tzu-Wei Kuo, Hoi-Kwan Lau

Quantifying mixed-state entanglement in many-body systems has been a formidable task. In this work, we quantify the entanglement of states in unresolvable spin ensembles, which are inherently mixed. By exploiting their permutationally invariant properties, we show that the bipartite entanglement of a wide range of unresolvable ensemble states can be calculated exactly. Our formalism is versatile; it can be used to evaluate the entanglement in an ensemble with an arbitrary number of particles, effective angular momentum, and bipartition. We apply our method to explore the characteristics of entanglement in different physically motivated scenarios, including states with definite magnetization and metrologically useful superpositions such as Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states and spin-squeezed states. Our method can help understand the role of entanglement in spin-ensemble-based quantum technologies.

Three-tangle of assistance

Xi-Jun Ren, Zhen Wang, Xingxiang Zhou +2 more

In this report, we calculate the three tangle of assistance and give the corresponding best possible pure state decomposition of rank-two mixed states for the three-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state and $W$ state. As the three tangle can be transformed into bipartite concurrence with assistance, we achieve a lower bound of the assisted concurrence with local operations and classical communication (LOCC) constraints via these pure state decompositions. It is smaller than the total assisted concurrence, which shows that local assistance alone is not sufficient for maximizing bipartite entanglement. The increase of three tangle is attributed to the genuine multipartite entanglement in the purified state. A genuine four-qubit entanglement measure is calculated for the purified four-qubit state and compared to the three tangle of assistance.
