Abstract

In this article, we propose two new quantum field states, displaced binomial state and displaced negative binomial state. Their photon number distributions and sub-Poissonian properties are discussed. The results show that the displaced binomial state is a kind of intermediate quantum state between the coherent state and displaced number state and it may be sub-Poissonian and super-Poissonian at different parameters. The displaced negative binomial state is always super-Poissonian and is an intermediate state between coherent state and displaced Sussking-Glogower phased state. Finally, we study the dynamical evolution of atomic population inversion in the intensity-dependent interaction between these two states and two-level atoms.

Negative Binomial States of Quantized Radiation Fields

Hong‐Chen Fu, Ryu Sasaki B

We introduce the negative binomial states with negative binomial distribution as their photon number distribution. They reduce to the ordinary coherent states and Susskind-Glogower phase states in different limits. The ladder and displacement operator formalisms are found and they are essentially the Perelomov's su(1,1) coherent states via its Holstein-Primakoff realisation. These states exhibit strong squeezing effect and they obey the super-Poissonian statistics. A method to generate these states is proposed.

TWO TYPES OF CORRELATED BINOMIAL-NEGATIVE BINOMIAL STATES AND THEIR NONCLASSICAL PROPERTIES

Hong-Yi Fan, Nai-Le Liu, HENG LI

Based on the single-mode binomial states and the negative binomial states, we construct two types of two-mode correlated states of the quantized radiation field. Their nonclassical properties are investigated. It is also shown that these states can be viewed as correlated su(2) and su(1,1) coherent states.

Interaction of Negative Binomial States with Two-Level Atoms

Wang XiaoGuang, Hong‐Chen Fu

We study the interaction of negative binomial states with two-level atoms. The dynamical evolutions of atomic population inversion, field entropy, Q function, and phase distribution are investigated in detail. The field becomes a superposition of negative binomial states at certain times, and this is confirmed further by its photon number distribution.

GENERALIZED EXCITED NEGATIVE BINOMIAL STATES OF ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD AND SOME OF THEIR NON-CLASSICAL PROPERTIES

H. H. Salah, Mahmoud Darwish, A.‐S. F. Obada

New states of electromagnetic field, generalized excited negative binomial states are introduced here. These states interpolate between the superposition of two excited coherent states and number states. The non-classical properties for these states are discussed, such as, second order correlation function, squeezing phenomena [normal squeezing and amplitude squared squeezing], phase properties in Pegg–Barnett formalism and the quasi-probability distribution functions (Q-function and Wigner function).

BINOMIAL STATES OF THE TWO-LEVEL ATOMIC SYSTEM

HUANG HONG-BIN, 东南大学物理系,南京,210018

In this paper, we introduce the binomial state of a two-level atomic system, which is a state that yields a binomial probability distribution. Its generation, squeezing, antibunching, and subpoisson statistics are discussed. It reduces to the Glauber coherent state in certain limit, and in that limit, the binomial distribution reduces to the Poisson distribution. This limiting process destroys all nonclassical effects of the system. The Bloch vector model is used to discuss the quantum characters of mixed state of one atom. Finally, the binomial state of the atomic system and the binomial state of the Bose system is compared. It is shown that the binomial state of a Bose system can not be produced in a atomic system.

The time-evolution of atomic population inverse of binomial photon field and negative binomial photon field interacting with two coupling atoms via intensity-dependent coupling is investigated. The influences of interaction between atoms and the initial state of photon field on the atomic population inverse are discussed.
