Abstract

We have studied the influence of the Kerr effect on the average photon numbers, the degrees of second-order coherence, the degree of interbeam second-order coherence and the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality in the system consisting of an nondegenerate two-photon J-C model in a high-Q cavity filled with a Kerr-like medium.

Dynamics of the interaction of an entangled atom with the non-degenerate double-photon inside a cavity filled with a Kerr-like medium

Zhong Wang

Based on the model that one of the two-entangled two-level atoms interacts with the non-degeneration two-photon cavity filled with Kerr medium, the influence of the Kerr effect on the atom and the light is studied such as the average photon numbers, the degrees of second-order coherence and the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality. After selectively detection on one of the atoms at certain particular entanglement degree,it is found that the period of the collapse and revival of the average photon numbers, the degrees of second-order coherence of the lights, and the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality are influenced evidently by the Kerr effect.

The paper mainly considers the interaction about one of the two entangled atoms with the nondegenerate two-photon in cavity. After selective detection on one of the atoms, the properties of the light field has been investigated. It is proved that the average photon numbers and the second-order quantum coherence are dramatically influenced by the entangled degree of the atoms.

Squeezing of Field in the System of a Kerr Medium Embedded in a Nondegenerate Two-Photon Absorption Cavity

Gao‐xiang Li, PENG JIN-SHENG, Peng Zhou

Squeezing properties of field in the system of a Kerr medium embedded in a non-degenerate two-photon absorption cavity interacting with a two-mode uncorrelated coherent field are discussed. We find that both the two-mode squeezing and the sum squeezing of field can arise and can be enhanced due to the Kerr effect.

ENTROPY PROPERTIES OF THE FIELD IN THE TWO- PHOTON JAYNES-CUMMINGS MODEL WITH AN ADDITIONAL KERR MEDIUM

Mao-Fa Fang, Peng Zhou

In this paper, the entropy properties of the field in the two-photon Jaynes-Cu-mmings model with an additional Kerr medium are studied, the effect of nonlineari-ty interaction of the Kerr medium with the model field on the field entropy are discussed. With the help of quantum interference in phase space between two part of the bifurcation of the Q function of the field, the physical mechanism of properties of the field entropy are explained.

A two-photon laser in a Kerr-like medium with cross-Kerr and intensity-dependent coupling

Faisal H A Mathkoor, C. H. Raymond Ooi

Abstract We have studied the photon statistics of a nondegenerate two-photon laser with a medium that has both self- and cross-Kerr interactions as well as intensity-dependent atom–field coupling in the Hamiltonian. The density matrix equation of the atoms and two-mode cavity fields was derived using the standard Scully–Lamb approach and numerically solved. Under certain conditions, the photon distribution function equation was derived and solved analytically. The first few moments of photon numbers were calculated in the region above the lasing threshold. Nonclassicality of the fields was investigated by means of the Mandel Q parameter, second-order correlation functions and the Cauchy–Schwarz inequality. The results are analyzed for a range of finite Kerr parameters. Intensity-dependent coupling suppresses the nonclassicality of the field. It pushes the statistics of the field towards super-Poissonian.The self- and cross-Kerr interactions have significant roles in the nonclassicality of the two-photon cavity field and its statistics. These results are interesting for the field of quantum nonlinear optics and useful in quantum communications.

DYNAMICS OF A NONDEGENERATE TWO-PHOTON JAYNES–CUMMINGS MODEL

Richard D’Souza, Arundhati S. Jayarao

A generalized Jaynes–Cummings model including the Stark shifts is investigated where the transition is mediated by two different modes of photons. For two different types of correlated field states, the pair coherent states and two-mode SU(1, 1) coherent states, the effect of including the Stark shift on the dynamical behavior of atomic inversion, atomic squeezing parameters, second order coherence function, and photon number distribution is investigated. Our results indicate significant changes in the behavior of these quantities for large and small average photon number <n> in the presence and absence of Stark shift and depending on the type of correlated field involved.
