Ultrasensitive measurement of microcantilever displacement below the shot-noise limit

Raphael C. Pooser, Benjamin J. Lawrie

The displacement of micro-electro-mechanical-systems (MEMS) cantilevers is used to measure a broad variety of phenomena in devices ranging from force microscopes to biochemical sensors to thermal imaging systems. We demonstrate the first direct measurement of a MEMS cantilever displacement with a noise floor at 40% of the shot noise limit (SNL). By combining multi-spatial-mode quantum light sources with a simple differential measurement, we show that sub-SNL MEMS displacement sensitivity is highly accessible compared to previous efforts that measured the displacement of macroscopic mirrors with very distinct spatial structures crafted with multiple optical parametric amplifiers and locking loops. These results support a new class of quantum MEMS sensor with an ultimate signal to noise ratio determined by quantum correlations, enabling ultra-trace sensing, imaging, and microscopy applications in which signals were previously obscured by shot noise.

Multipartite Spin Entangled States in Quantum Dots with a Quantum Databus Based on Nano Electro-Mechanical Resonator

Zhicheng Zhu, Tao Tu, Guo‐Ping Guo

We propose an efficient method to create multipartite spin entangled states in quantum dots coupled to a nano electro-mechanical resonator array. Our method, based on the interaction between electron spins confined in quantum dots and the motion of magnetized nano electro-mechanical resonators, can enable a coherent spin-spin coupling over long distances and in principle be applied to an arbitrarily large number of electronic spins.

Research on key problems of quantum state transformation based on cavity electro-opto-mechanical system

Chao Chen, Dewei Wu, Chunyan Yang

How to realize high-fidelity non-classical quantum state transformation in cavity electro-opto-mechanical system is a hot issue in the field of quantum information research. Adjusting the range of the optical detuning amount can indirectly realize the non-classical conversion of the microwave and the optical field. This paper analyzes the effect of driving light detuning on microwave and light conversion. This research work has theoretical and practical significance for the application of quantum state conversion technology of cavity electro-opto-mechanical system in precision quantum measurement and quantum information processing.
