Quantum communication through a spin chain with interaction determined by a Jacobi matrix

R. Chakrabarti, Joris Van Der Jeugt

We obtain the time-dependent correlation function describing the evolution of a single spin excitation state in a linear spin chain with isotropic nearest-neighbour XY coupling, where the Hamiltonian is related to the Jacobi matrix of a set of orthogonal polynomials. For the Krawtchouk polynomial case, an arbitrary element of the correlation function is expressed in a simple closed form. Its asymptotic limit corresponds to the Jacobi matrix of the Charlier polynomial, and may be understood as a unitary evolution resulting from a Heisenberg group element. Correlation functions for Hamiltonians corresponding to Jacobi matrices for the Hahn, dual Hahn and Racah polynomials are also studied. For the Hahn polynomials we obtain the general correlation function, some of its special cases and the limit related to the Meixner polynomials, where the su (1, 1) algebra describes the underlying symmetry. For the cases of dual Hahn and Racah polynomials, the general expressions of the correlation functions contain summations which are not of hypergeometric type. Simplifications, however, occur in special cases.

U ( 2 Ω ) ⊃ U ( Ω ) ⊗ SU ( 2 ) Wigner-Racah algebra for embedded Gaussian unitary ensemble of random matrices with spin

V. K. B. Kota

Exact results for embedded Gaussian unitary ensemble of two-body interactions for fermions with spin [EGUE(2)-s] are derived using the Wigner-Racah algebra of the embedding U(2Ω)⊃U(Ω)⊗SU(2) algebra. Explicit formulas, for systems with m fermions and spin S, are given for the lower order cross correlations, between states with (m,S) and (m′,S′), generated by this ensemble and also, in terms of a SU(Ω) Racah coefficient, for the fourth order shape parameter for the fixed-(m,S) density of states.

Atom-photon cluster in nonlinear and quantum optics

Ashat M. Basharov

We described the constructed models of radiative quantum systems analogous of multiphoton and Raman resonances of classical field quanta on an atomic system with the participation of resonator mode quanta. A distinctive feature of the models is the possibility to describe an atomic ensemble and quanta using either the generators of polynomial algebra or the two-mode Jordan-Schwinger representation of the su(2) algebra, that could point to atomic-photon and/or photon clusters. The algebras are arising that are mathematically insoluble, in contrast to the Heisenberg — Weyl algebra, which makes it possible to implement and observe fundamental effects of coherent nonlinear optics, such as photon echo, optical nutation, and superradiance in ensembles of the described clusters.
