Abstract

Summary form only given. We discuss a way to remove the negative role of chaotic motion of nuclei by ignition of two-quantum induced gamma emission in counterpropagating intense photon beams. Our approach is based on a well known Doppler-free technique used in two-quantum absorption spectroscopy.

Nuclear two-quanta gamma-ray lasing by strong-field ignition

Лев Абрамович Ривлин

Igniting of two‐quanta gamma‐ray emission by two external counterpropagating photon beams involves into stimulated process all the nuclei no matter what their randomly distributed velocities are. Such kind of two‐photon emission gives rise to dynamic non‐linear distributed feedback, thus any mirrors or other reflecting structures are not needed. Both effects together result in avalanche‐like burst emission of all the excited nuclei.

Two-quantum stimulated emission of gamma radiation

Задерновский Анатолий Андреевич

Various schemes exploiting two-quantum nuclear transitions for the generation of coherent gamma radiation (stimulated anti-Stokes and stimulated two-quantum de-excitation of isomeric nuclei in an active medium with the hidden population inversion of nuclear states and the ignition of an avalanche-like stimulated gamma-emission by counterpropagating X-rays) are discussed.

Three-Photon Doppler-Free Spectroscopy: Experimental Evidence

G. Grynberg, F. Biraben, M. Bassini +1 more

We report here the first experimental demonstration of Doppler-free three-photon spectroscopy. The Doppler broadening is eliminated by insuring that the sum of the momenta of the three photons simultaneously exchanged between the atom and the laser beams is equal to 0. This is accomplished by making a proper choice of the angles between the three exciting beams. The observation has been made on the sodium $3{S}_{\frac{1}{2}}\ensuremath{-}3{P}_{\frac{1}{2}}$ transition with absorption of two photons and induced emission of one.

Two-photon absorption yields Doppler-free spectroscopy

Gloria B. Lubkin

In one of those events so typical of research, three groups have independently and almost simultaneously demonstrated two-photon absorption in sodium vapor without blurring from Doppler broadening. The technique appears to open up a new way of achieving high-resolution spectroscopy with tunable lasers. And it can be applied, for example, to induce photochemical reactions selectively, to separate isotopes, or to provide more precise values for the Rydberg constant and Lamb shifts.

Doppler-free two-photon absorption of two coherent beams

Ming Chiang Li

Proposed and performed experiments on the Doppler-free two-photon absorption of two coherent laser beams are discussed. The coherent phenomenon in experiments follows directly from basic quantum mechanics. It is shown that, to excite the coherent absorption, the laser beams need not be spatially or temporally separated.

Two-photon excitation of nuclei

I. V. Krasnov, N. Ya. Shaparev

An analysis is made of the two-photon absorption of radiation by nuclei subjected to two opposed $gamma$-ray fluxes. The absorption cross section has two maxima separated by the recoil energy. The higher maximum, of width GAMMA governed by the radiative damping, is associated with the recoilless absorption; the lower maximum, of width governed by the Doppler effect, describes the absorption in the presence of recoil. The low maximum makes it possible to attain low values of the parameter GAMMA/$omega$. (AIP)
