Abstract

The fidelity of teleportation of continuous quantum variables can be improved by tuning the local displace-ment gain. We investigate the optimization of the fidelity for the teleportation of Schrodinger cat states, and of coherent states. It is found that the gain corresponding to the maximum fidelity is not equal to onefor the two input states in the case of the small squeezing degree of the entanglement resource, while unitydisplacement gain is the best choice for teleporting arbitrary quantum states in the case of large squeezing.

Optimal Continuous Variable Quantum Teleportation with Limited Resources

Pietro Liuzzo-Scorpo, Andrea Mari, Vittorio Giovannetti +1 more

Given a certain amount of entanglement available as a resource, what is the most efficient way to accomplish a quantum task? We address this question in the relevant case of continuous variable quantum teleportation protocols implemented using two-mode Gaussian states with a limited degree of entanglement and energy. We first characterize the class of single-mode phase-insensitive Gaussian channels that can be simulated via a Braunstein-Kimble protocol with nonunit gain and minimum shared entanglement, showing that infinite energy is not necessary apart from the special case of the quantum limited attenuator. We also find that apart from the identity, all phase-insensitive Gaussian channels can be simulated through a two-mode squeezed state with finite energy, albeit with a larger entanglement. We then consider the problem of teleporting single-mode coherent states with Gaussian-distributed displacement in phase space. Performing a geometrical optimization over phase-insensitive Gaussian channels, we determine the maximum average teleportation fidelity achievable with any finite entanglement and for any realistically finite variance of the input distribution.

Optimal fidelity of teleportation with continuous variables using three tunable parameters in a realistic environment

Liyun Hu, Zeyang Liao, Sheng-li Ma +1 more

We introduce three tunable parameters to optimize the fidelity of quantum teleportation with continuous variables in a nonideal scheme. By using the characteristic-function formalism, we present the condition that the teleportation fidelity is independent of the amplitude of input coherent states for any entangled resource. Then we investigate the effects of tunable parameters on the fidelity with or without the presence of the environment and imperfect measurements by analytically deriving the expression of fidelity for three different input coherent-state distributions. It is shown that, for the linear distribution, the optimization with three tunable parameters is the best one with respect to single- and two-parameter optimization. Our results reveal the usefulness of tunable parameters for improving the fidelity of teleportation and the ability against decoherence.
