Abstract

By using the algebraic dynamical approach, an atom-field bipartite system in mixed state is employed to investigate the partial entropy change and the entanglement in a cavity filled with Kerr medium. The effects of different nonlinear intensities are studied. One can find that the Kerr nonlinearity can reduce the fluctuation amplitudes of the partial entropy changes and the entanglement of the two subsystems, and also influence their periodic evolution. Meanwhile, increasing the Kerr nonlinear strength can convert the anti-correlated behaviour of the partial entropy change to the positively correlated behaviour. Furthermore, the entanglement greatly depends on the temperature. When the temperature or the nonlinear intensity increases to a certain value, the entanglement can be suppressed greatly.

Dissipative Dynamics of the Jaynes-Cummings Model with a Kerr Medium

The full quantum theory is applied to the investigation of the entanglement between atom and field and the losses of coherence of the total system and its subsystems in the Jaynes-Cummings model with a Kerr medium.Linear entropies of the system, the atom and the field are calculated under the assumptions of dispersive atom-field interaction and initial coherent field states. The results show that the coherence loss of the atom is independent of the Kerr effect, the coherence loss of the system and that of the field are enhanced by the presence of the Kerr medium, and the entanglement between atom and field is suppressed by the medium. The time evolution of field entropy is affected by the cavity dissipation qualitatively as well as quantitatively.Only through cavity dissipation can the influence of Kerr effect on field entropy exhibit.

Entanglement analysis of a two-atom nonlinear Jaynes–Cummings model with nondegenerate two-photon transition, Kerr nonlinearity, and two-mode Stark shift

Hamid Reza Baghshahi, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly, Mohammad Javad Faghihi

An entangled state, as an essential tool in quantum information processing, may be generated through the interaction between light and matter in cavity quantum electrodynamics. In this paper, we study the interaction between two two-level atoms and a two-mode field in an optical cavity enclosed by a medium with Kerr nonlinearity in the presence of a detuning parameter and Stark effect. It is assumed that the atom–field coupling and third-order susceptibility of the Kerr medium depend on the intensity of the light. In order to investigate the dynamics of the introduced system, we obtain the exact analytical form of the state vector of the considered atom–field system under initial conditions which may be prepared for the atoms (in a coherent superposition of their ground and upper states) and the fields (in a standard coherent state). Then, in order to evaluate the degree of entanglement between the subsystems, we investigate the dynamics of the entanglement by employing the entanglement of formation. Finally, we analyze in detail the influences of the Stark shift, the deformed Kerr medium, the intensity-dependent coupling, and also the detuning parameter on the behavior of this measure for different subsystems. The numerical results show that the amount of entanglement between the different subsystems can be controlled by choosing the evolved parameters appropriately.

Atom-field Entanglement Properties in Non-linear Jaynes-Cummings Model

Lihui Zhang

The atom-field entanglement properties in the intensity-dependent coupling Jaynes-Cummings model with an additional Kerr medium are investigated by using negative eigenvalues ofthe partial transposition matrix of the density matrix. The influences of Kerr medium and initial fieldon atom-field entanglement degree are discussed. The results show that the time evolution of atom-field entanglement degree has the periodicity, for different preparations. The period depends on thestrengthes of the field-atom coupling and field-medium interaction, with the increase of thestrengthes, the period becomes smaller. The initial state of the field plays an important role in the atom-field entanglement degree.

Dynamics of entanglement in a two-mode nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings mode

A. B. M. Ahmed, S. Sivakumar

Dynamics of entanglement due to intensity-dependent interaction between a two-level atom and a single-mode electromagnetic field in a Kerr medium is studied. The form of the interaction is such that the Hamiltonian evolution is exactly solvable. The Hamiltonian is shown to be a deformed Jaynes-Cummings model admitting a closed, symmetric algebra. Dynamics of population inversion and atom-field entanglement are studied taking the initial state of the field to be either a coherent state or a squeezed vacuum. Analysis is extended to the case of a two-mode cavity field interacting with a two-level atom. For the two-mode case, the initial field is a pair coherent state or a two-mode squeezed vacuum. Effects due to nonlinearity, intensity-dependent interaction and detuning on the dynamics are discussed and compared with those of the single-mode case.

Influence of a detuning and Kerr nonlinearity on atom-atom entanglement in a double two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model

Eugene K. Bashkirov

In this paper, we have investigated the entanglement dynamics between two identical two-level atoms in the framework of two-photon double Jaynes-Cummings model taking into account the detuning between atoms and twice cavities frequencies and Kerr nonlinearities in both cavities. We have carried out the temporal dependence of the atom-atom negativity for Bell’s initial entangled atomic states. The results show that these parameters have great impact on the amplitudes of the atom-atom entanglement oscillations and that presence of detuning and Kerr nonlinearity lead to stabilization of entanglement for all Bell-types initial atomic states. For a certain initial atomic entangled states, there is an entanglement sudden death effect between the two atoms. The detuning and Kerr medium in the cavities can prevent the undesirable entanglement sudden death from occurring.

The entanglement and second-order coherence function in a two-atom nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model

Chuan Mo, Kai Xu, Guo‐Feng Zhang

Abstract The influence of the Kerr nonlinearity on the two two-level atoms entanglement is investigated in Jaynes–Cummings model (JCM), so that one of atoms is inside the cavity field and the other atom is outside it. We show that the entanglement of atoms increases with the decrease of the phase decoherence rate or Kerr coefficient, when considering the effect of external environment. Then due to the statistic properties of the anti-bunching effect of photons are related to entanglement, the nonlinear JCM is examined theoretically to analyze the bunching or anti-bunching effect by using the second-order coherence function. We find that the second-order coherence function decreases with the Kerr coefficient. Our results show that the field reflects the stronger bunching effect with the bigger average photon number.
