Nonautonomous dark soliton solutions in two-component Bose-Einstein condensates with a linear time-dependent potential

Abstract

We report the analytical nonautonomous soliton solutions(NSSs) for two-component Bose–Einstein condensates with the presence of a time-dependent potential. These solutions show that the time-dependent potential can affect the velocity of NSS. The velocity shows the characteristic of both increasing and oscillation with time. A detailed analysis for the asymptotic behavior of NSSs demonstrates that the collision of two NSSs of each component is elastic.

NONAUTONOMOUS DARK SOLITONS IN BOSE–EINSTEIN CONDENSATE

Weidong Xie, FAN YE, WANFEN HE +2 more

In this paper, we study on dark solitons of Bose–Einstein condensate analytically in a time-dependent harmonic trap with an arbitrary time-dependent linear potential and complex potential. It is shown that the nonautonomous dark soliton can be manipulated well through managing external potentials and nonlinear interaction between atoms. We believe that these results would stimulate experiments to manage dark solitons.

Bright and dark soliton solutions in growing Bose–Einstein condensates

Wei-Wei Song, Qiuyan Li, Zai-Dong Li +1 more

This paper develops the Hirota method carefully for applying into the growing model of quasi-one-dimensional Bose–Einstein condensations with attractive and repulsive interaction, respectively. After a tedious calculation it obtains the exact bright and dark soliton solutions analytically. It shows that the growing model has the important effect on the soliton amplitude and the time-dependent potential only contributes to the phase and phase velocity. A detailed analysis for the asymptotic behaviour of two-soliton solutions shows that the collision of two soliton is elastic.

Non-autonomous bright–dark solitons and Rabi oscillations in multi-component Bose–Einstein condensates

Thambithurai Kanna, R Babu Mareeswaran, F Tsitoura +2 more

We study the dynamics of non-autonomous bright-dark matter-wave solitons in two- and three- component Bose-Einstein condensates. Our setting includes a time-dependent parabolic potential and scattering length, as well as Rabi coupling of the separate hyperfine states. By means of a similarity transformation, we transform the non-autonomous coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations into the completely integrable Manakov model with defocusing nonlinearity, and construct the explicit form of the non-autonomous soliton solutions. The propagation characteristics for the one-soliton state, and collision scenarios for multiple soliton states are discussed in detail for two types of time-dependent nonlinearities: a kink-like one and a periodically modulated one, with appropriate time-dependence of the trapping potential. We find that in the two-component condensates the nature of soliton propagation is determined predominantly by the nature of the nonlinearity, as well as the temporal modulation of the harmonic potential; switching in this setting is essentially due to Rabi coupling. We also perform direct numerical simulation of the non-autonomous two-component coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations to corroborate our analytical predictions. More interestingly, in the case of the three-component condensates, we find that the solitons can lead to collision-induced energy switching (energy-sharing collision), that can be profitably used to control Rabi switching or vice-versa. An interesting possibility of reversal of the nature of the constituent soliton, i.e., bright (dark) into dark (bright) due to Rabi coupling is demonstrated in the three-component setting.

Matter-wave solitons of Bose–Einstein condensates in a time-dependent complicated potential

Deng‐Shan Wang, Xiao-Fei Zhang, Peng Zhang +1 more

We investigate the dynamics of matter-wave solitons in Bose–Einstein condensates with a time-dependent complicated potential, which is composed of a linear, a harmonic and a complex potential of arbitrary form. This system is characterized by the time dependence of all the parameters of the complicated potential. A unified transformation is derived and exact soliton solutions are obtained analytically. Our results show that the dynamical evolution of the solitons can be dramatically affected by the complicated potential; the collisions between two solitons are essentially elastic in the absence of complex potential. Moreover, it is found that the number of atoms in the soliton can be effectively controlled by a proper choice of the external complex potential.

Dynamics of vector solitons in two-component Bose–Einstein condensates with time-dependent interactions and harmonic potential

Zheng Zhou, Yu Hui-You, Yan Jia-Ren

We present two kinds of exact vector-soliton solutions for coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations with time-varying interactions and time-varying harmonic potential. Using the variational approach, we investigate the dynamics of the vector solitons. It is found that the two bright solitons oscillate about slightly and pass through each other around the equilibration state which means that they are stable under our model. At the same time, we obtain the opposite situation for dark-dark solitons.
