Abstract

This paper investigates the generation and evolution of continuous-variable entanglement in an asymmetric coupled-quantum well (CQW) system. Our numerical results show that this CQW system can be regarded as a source of macroscopic entangled light over a wide range of initial states of the cavity field. This investigation can be used for achieving the macroscopic entangled light in the CQW solid-state medium, which is much more practical than that in an atomic medium because of its flexible design and the controllable interference strength.

Single molecular magnets as a source of continuous-variable entanglement

Xin‐You Lü, Ji-Bing Liu, Yü Tian +2 more

We study the generation and evolution of continuous-variable entanglement in a single-molecular-magnets (SMM) system, where the quantum coherence effect is induced by two classical electromagnetic fields (pump and control fields). Our numerical results show that the entanglement of cavity fields can be controlled efficiently by tuning the intensity and frequency detuning of control field, and the macroscopic entangled light with long entanglement time can be realized in this SMM system, over a wide range of initial states of the cavity field. This investigation can be used for achieving the macroscopic entangled light in a solid-state medium, which is much more practical than that in an atomic or molecular medium because of its flexible design.

Holographic Laser as a Source of Continuous Variable Entanglement

Yang Bin, Xin‐You Lü, Wu Meng-Xi

We study the generation and evolution of continuous-variable entanglement in a holographic laser. The two-level atomic medium is trapped in a ring cavity, and couples with two counter-propagating modes. By simulating the dynamics of the system, our numerical results show that the two-mode continuous variable (CV) entanglement can be realized in the present system even in the presence of cavity loss. This investigation provides a research clue for realizing CV entanglement in a two-level atomic medium, which is simpler than the previous works.

Two-mode single-atom laser as a source of entangled light

Martin Kiffner, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy, Jörg Evers +1 more

A two-mode single-atom laser is considered, with the aim of generating entanglement in macroscopic light. Two transitions in the four-level gain medium atom independently interact with the two cavity modes, while two other transitions are driven by control laser fields. Atomic relaxation as well as cavity losses are taken into account. We show that this system is a source of macroscopic entangled light over a wide range of control parameters and initial states of the cavity field.

Ultraslow Propagation of Entangled State via Four-Wave Mixing in a Coupled Double Quantum Well

Chunling Ding, Ji-Bing Liu, Xin‐You Lü +1 more

An analytical method based on four-wave mixing (FWM) is here developed to study the generation of entangled state in an asymmetric semiconductor double quantum well structure. It is found that the maximally entangled state of two beams (the probe and four-wave mixing beams) can be achieved in an appropriate condition. Moreover, we also show that the two entangled beams propagate with ultraslow group velocity in the semiconductor medium. This investigation can be used for achieving the entangled beams in the semiconductor solid-state medium, which is much more practical than that in an atomic medium because of its flexible design and the wide adjustable parameters.

Three-mode entanglement via tunneling-induced interference in a coupled triple-semiconductor quantum-well structure

Xin‐You Lü, Jing Wu

A simple scheme is proposed to achieve three-mode continuous-variable (CV) entanglement in a coupled triple-semiconductor quantum-well (TSQW) structure via tunneling-induced interference. In the present scheme, the TSQW structure is trapped into a triply resonant cavity, and the tunneling-induced interference effects considered here are the key to realizing entanglement. By numerically simulating the dynamics of the system, we show that the strength of tunneling-induced interference can effectively influence the period of entanglement, and the generation of entanglement does not depend intensively on the initial condition of the cavity field in our scheme. As a result, the present research provides an efficient approach to achieve three-mode CV entanglement in a semiconductor nanostructure, which may have an impact on the progress of solid-state quantum-information theory.

Bright continuous-variable entanglement from the quantum optical dimer

Michael Mallon, M. D. Reid, M. K. Olsen

We show theoretically that two evanescently coupled $χ^{(2)}$ second harmonic generators inside a Fabry-Perot cavity provide a tunable source of quadrature squeezed light, Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlations and quantum entanglement. Unlike systems using coupled downconverters, second harmonic generation has no oscillation threshhold, so that the entangled fields become macroscopically occupied as soon as the pumping fields are turned on. This system also gives two frequencies at which the entangled fields can have macroscopic intensity. We show how the entanglement properties can be controlled by adjusting the pumping, the coupling strengths and the cavity detunings.
