Experiments on the dynamics of the Bose–Einstein condensate at finite temperatures

Wojciech Gawlik, W. Jastrzȩbski, J. Szczepkowski +3 more

This paper presents the results of our recent experiments on the finite-temperature Bose?Einstein condensate of 87Rb atoms in a magnetic trap, and is devoted to the study of the hydrodynamic properties and dynamics of an ultra-cold atomic gas near the critical temperature. Measurements of the aspect ratio of an expanding atomic cloud allow for verification of the condensate models and study of the interaction between condensed and non-condensed fractions of a finite-temperature sample.

A Compact, Moveable, Microchip-Based System for High Repetition Rate Production of Bose-Einstein Condensates

Kai Hudek, Daniel Farkas, Evan A. Salim +3 more

We present a compact, moveable system for producing Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) on an integrated microchip. The system occupies 0.4 m3 and operates as fast as 0.3 Hz. Condensates of 1.9 × 104 atoms in 87Rb have been demonstrated.

Direct observation of Bose-Einstein condensation transition in 87Rb atomic gases in tightly confinement QUIC trap

Zhen Ya Xu, Shuyu Zhou, Qu Qiu-Zhi +4 more

By evaporative cooling in QUIC trap, Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) was achieved with 2×105 87Rb atoms in |F=2, mF=2〉 state. We have demonstrated the criterion of BEC transition by the variation of the axial size of the atoms in tight confinement, and observed phase transition from thermal atomic gases to Bose-Einstein condensate, and measured the shift of aspect ratio of BEC during free expansion, which compared with theoretical prediction.
