Abstract

We study the scalar curvature of the Fisher information metric on the microscopic coupling-parameter manifold of lattice spin models at criticality. For a $d$-dimensional lattice with periodic boundary conditions and $n = L^d$ sites, the Fisher manifold has $m = d \cdot n$ dimensions (one per bond), and we find $|\mathcal{R}(J_c)| \sim n^{d_R}$ with $d_R = (dν+ 2η)/(dν+ η)$, where $ν$ and $η$ are the correlation-length and anomalous-dimension critical exponents. For 2D Ising ($ν= 1$, $η= 1/4$), this predicts $d_R = 10/9$, confirmed by exact transfer-matrix computations ($L = 6$--$9$: $d_R = 1.1115 \pm 0.0002$) and multi-seed MCMC through $L = 24$. For 3D Ising ($ν= 0.630$, $η= 0.0363$), the prediction $d_R = 1.019$ is consistent with MCMC on $L^3$ tori up to $L = 10$ (power-law fit: $d_R = 1.040$). For 2D Potts $q = 3$ (predicted $33/29 \approx 1.138$), FFT-MCMC through $L = 40$ shows $d_\mathrm{eff}$ oscillating non-monotonically around $\sim 1.20$, consistent with $O(1/(\ln L)^2)$ logarithmic corrections. For $q = 4$ (predicted $22/19$), effective exponents oscillate with strong logarithmic corrections. The Ricci decomposition identity $R_3 = -R_1/2$, $R_4 = -R_2/2$ holds to 5--6 digits for all models. This exponent is distinct from Ruppeiner thermodynamic curvature and reflects the collective geometry of the growing Fisher manifold. We provide falsification criteria and predictions for additional universality classes.

Transfer matrix and Monte Carlo tests of critical exponents in lattice models

J. Kaupužs

The corrections to finite-size scaling in the critical two-point correlation function G(r) of 2D Ising model on a square lattice have been studied numerically by means of exact transfer-matrix algorithms. The systems of square geometry with periodic boundaries oriented either along <10> or along <11> direction have been considered, including up to 800 spins. The calculation of G(r) at a distance r equal to the half of the system size L shows the existence of an amplitude correction proportional to 1/L^2. A nontrivial correction proportional to 1/L^0.25 of a very small magnitude also has been detected in agreement with predictions of our recently developed GFD (grouping of Feynman diagrams) theory. A refined analysis of the recent MC data for 3D Ising, phi^4, and XY lattice models has been performed. It includes an analysis of the partition function zeros of 3D Ising model, an estimation of the correction-to-scaling exponent omega from the Binder cumulant data near criticality, as well as a study of the effective critical exponent eta and the effective amplitudes in the asymptotic expansion of susceptibility at the critical point. In all cases a refined analysis is consistent with our (GFD) asymptotic values of the critical exponents (nu=2/3, omega=1/2, eta=1/8 for 3D Ising model and omega=5/9 for 3D XY model), while the actually accepted "conventional" exponents are, in fact, effective exponents which are valid for approximation of the finite--size scaling behavior of not too large systems.

Fisher manifold geometry of helical cylindrical lattices: entropic deficit, scalar curvature, BKT divergence, UV–IR bridge, mutual information area-law, and the curvature–information connection

Pavol Belobrad

We study the information geometry of helical cylindrical lattices with N protofilaments and helical offset h. The microtubule geometry (N=13, h=3) serves as a structural template motivating the lattice topology; we do not model microtubule biophysics. Starting from the exact Bessel expansion of the partition function per node, we derive the entropic deficit C as a local geometric invariant independent of lattice size N, and compute the Fisher–Rao metric and its scalar curvature R on the (J₁, J₂, J₃) parameter space. All metric quantities are expressed as closed-form Bessel sums with no perturbative truncation. Main results: (1) R = +2.6245 at the reference point (β=0.5, J₁=J₂=1, J₃=0.8, h=3), stable to six significant digits; (2) R grows rapidly near the BKT transition with effective scaling R ~ β^4.79 (first computation of Fisher scalar curvature at a BKT transition); (3) helical topology inverts the curvature sign (R > 0 for helical vs. R < 0 for square lattices); (4) UV–IR Fisher manifolds share curvature sign only for N=13; (5) commensurability resonances governed by gcd(N,h). New results in version 3: (6) mutual information I(A:B) exhibits exact area-law scaling I = N · f(β, J₁, J₃, h) (analytical proof via Bloch decomposition); helical coupling increases boundary information density by 53% relative to the square lattice; (7) linear relationship R ≈ 5.9 · (I/N) − 0.088 (Pearson correlation +0.99) connecting Fisher scalar curvature to boundary mutual information.

Finite-size scaling and corrections in the Ising model with Brascamp-Kunz boundary conditions

Wolfhard Janke E, Ralph Kenna B

The Ising model in two dimensions with the special boundary conditions of Brascamp and Kunz is analyzed. Leading and subdominant scaling behavior of the Fisher zeros are determined exactly. The exact finite-size scaling, with corrections, of the specific heat is determined both at critical and effective critical (pseudocritical) points. The shift exponents associated with the scaling of these effective critical points are not the same as the inverse correlation length critical exponent. All corrections to scaling are analytic.
