Abstract

We establish a relationship between the Davey--Stewartson II (DS II) integrable system in $(2{+}1)$ dimensions and quasi-exactly solvable planar interacting Dirac Hamiltonians that exhibit the super-Klein tunneling (SKT) effect. The Dirac interactions are constructed from the real and imaginary parts of breather solutions of the DS II system. In this framework, the SKT effect arises when the energy is tuned to match the constant background of the soliton, while the resulting Dirac Hamiltonians simultaneously support bound states embedded in the continuum. By imposing the SKT boundary conditions, we employ Darboux transformations to construct a general three-parameter family of DS II breather solutions that can be mapped to Dirac Hamiltonians. At the initial soliton time, the corresponding Dirac systems form a massless two-parameter family of Hermitian models with nontrivial electrostatic potentials. As the soliton time evolves, the systems become $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric and develop a nontrivial imaginary mass term. Finally, when the soliton time is taken to be imaginary, the construction yields Hermitian Dirac systems that lack time-reversal symmetry. In all cases, we identify the emergence of quasi-symmetry transformations that preserve the SKT subspace of states while not commuting with the full Hamiltonian.

A Non-Hermitian Relativistic Oscillator Exactly Mapped to a Hermitian Schrodinger Problem

Mustapha Maamache

We introduce the Dirac Inverted Oscillator, a new exactly solvable relativistic quantum system obtained through a Hermitian modification of the generalized momentum operator in the Dirac equation. In contrast to the conventional Dirac oscillator, where the generalized momentum is intrinsically non-Hermitian while the Hamiltonian remains Hermitian, the present construction reverses these Hermiticity properties: the generalized momentum becomes Hermitian, whereas the corresponding Dirac Hamiltonian is intrinsically non-Hermitian. This inversion leads to a new class of relativistic Hamiltonians within the framework of non-Hermitian quantum mechanics. Starting from the stationary Dirac equation, we derive the corresponding second-order wave equation and establish the generalized symmetry properties of the model, including pseudo-Hermiticity and pseudo- symmetry. We then prove that the Dirac Inverted Oscillator is exactly related to the conventional Dirac oscillator through a Hermitian but non-unitary similarity transformation generated by a dilation operator. This transformation is bijective and invertible, mapping the original non-Hermitian relativistic problem onto an equivalent Hermitian Schrodinger eigenvalue problem while preserving its complete spectral structure. The transformed Hermitian problem is solved analytically, allowing the exact relativistic spectrum and the corresponding eigenfunctions of the original non-Hermitian Hamiltonian to be determined explicitly. The present work therefore establishes an exact correspondence between a non-Hermitian relativistic Dirac system and a Hermitian Schrodinger problem, providing a new exactly solvable model and illustrating the effectiveness of Hermitian non-unitary similarity transformations for constructing analytically solvable relativistic Hamiltonians beyond the conventional Hermitian framework.

Dirac equation with position-dependent effective mass and solvable potentials in the Schrödinger equation

H. Panahi, Zahra Bakhshi

We study the one-dimensional non-Hermitian imaginary potential with a real energy spectrum in the framework of the position-dependent effective mass Dirac equation. The Dirac equation is mapped into the exactly solvable Schrödinger-like equation endowed with position-dependent effective mass that we present a new procedure to solve it. The point canonical transformation in non-relativistic quantum mechanics is applied as an algebraic method to obtain the mass function and then by using the obtained mass function, the imaginary potential can be obtained. The spinor wavefunctions for some of the obtained electrostatic potentials are given in terms of orthogonal polynomials. We also obtain the relativistic bound state spectrum for each case in terms of the bound state spectrum of the solvable potentials.

Research Paper: Solution of the Dirac Equation for Pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonian and Energy-levels Crossing

Zahra Bakhshi, Fereshte Soleimani, Sare Khoshdooni

In this paper, the relativistic Dirac equation in one dimension is investigated for a particle in an external electromagnetic field, with the property of position-dependent effective mass approximation (PDEM), in the absence of vector potential. By removing the lower spinor component and combining the pair of equations, a Schrödinger-like equation is obtained for the upper spinor component. Using canonical transformations and introducing two first-order Hermitian and anti-Hermitian differential operators, a formalism for pseudo-hermitic Hamiltonians with parity-time reversal symmetry (PT) has been obtained. Comparing the equation derived from pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonian with the non-relativistic Schrödinger equation leads to a general formalism for one-dimensional solvable imaginary non-Hermitian potentials with real energy spectra. Also, using this process, the complex potentials of Pöschl-Teller and Scarf II with real energy spectra in Dirac equation with PDEM approximationand PT symmetry have been investigated and their application has been expressed. For some particular parameters we will see the phenomenon of energy-levels crossing. In fact, it means that energy levels disappear from the spectrum. Also, for the mentioned examples, potential figures are drawn.

Projective Geometry and PT -Symmetric Dirac Hamiltonian

H. van Dam, Yee Jack Ng

The ()-dimensional (generalized) Dirac equation is shown to have the same form as the equation expressing the condition that a given point lies on a given line in 3-dimensional projective space. The resulting Hamiltonian with a mass term is not Hermitian, but is invariant under the combined transformation of parity reflection and time reversal . When the symmetry is unbroken, the energy spectrum of the free spin- theory is real, with an appropriately shifted mass.

Super-Klein tunneling in 2D Lorentzian-type barriers in graphene

Alonso Contreras-Astorga, Francisco Correa, Luis Inzunza +2 more

We introduce a two-dimensional model of spin-1/2 Dirac fermions in graphene subjected to a highly tunable electric field, which exhibits super-Klein tunneling. The electric field can be continuously interpolated between two limiting configurations: a uniform electrostatic Lorentzian barrier with translational invariance and a chain of well-separated electrostatic scatterers. We demonstrate that super-Klein tunneling arises naturally as a direct consequence of the intrinsic connection of the model to free-particle dynamics, a relation that is established through methods of supersymmetric quantum mechanics, which provide an elegant and analytically tractable framework. Besides the mentioned super-Klein tunneling, scale invariance of the model and invisibility of the potential for particles of specific energy are revealed, and possible routes toward experimental realization are discussed.

Deconstructing non-Dirac–Hermitian supersymmetric quantum systems

Pijush K Ghosh

A method to construct a non-Dirac–Hermitian supersymmetric quantum system that is isospectral with a Dirac–Hermitian Hamiltonian is presented. The general technique involves a realization of the basic canonical (anti-)commutation relations involving both bosonic and fermionic degrees of freedom in terms of non-Dirac–Hermitian operators which are Hermitian in a Hilbert space that is endowed with a pre-determined positive-definite metric. A pseudo-Hermitian realization of the Clifford algebra for a pre-determined positive-definite metric is used to construct supersymmetric systems with one or many degrees of freedom. It is shown that exactly solvable non-Dirac–Hermitian supersymmetric quantum systems can be constructed corresponding to each exactly solvable Dirac–Hermitian system. Examples of non-Dirac–Hermitian (i) non-relativistic Pauli Hamiltonian, (ii) super-conformal quantum system, and (iii) supersymmetric Calogero-type models admitting entirely real spectra are presented.
