Complex Weyl correspondence for a generalized diamond group

Abstract

The generalized diamond group is the semi-direct product $G$ of the abelian group ${\mathbb R}^m$ by the $(2n+1)$-dimensional Heisenberg group $H_n$. We construct the generic representations of $G$ on the Fock space by extending those of $H_n$. Then we study the Berezin correspondence and the complex Weyl correspondence in connection with a generic representation $π$ of $G$, proving in particular that these correspondences are covariant with respect to $π$. We give also some explicit formulas for the Berezin symbols and the complex Weyl symbols of the representation operators $π(g)$ for $g\in G$. These results are applied to recover various formulas involving the Moyal product. Moreover, we relate $π$ to a coadjoint orbit of $G$ in the spirit of the Kirillov-Kostant method of orbits. This allows us to establish that the complex Weyl correspondence is a Stratonovich-Weyl correspondence for $π$.

The complex Weyl calculus as a Stratonovich-Weyl correspondence for the real diamond group

Benjamin Cahen

We revisit the problem of constructing a Stratonovich-Weyl correspondence for each generic representation of a the real diamond group which was already considered in [B. Cahen, Riv. Mat. Univ. Parma 4 (2013), 197-213]. Here we use the complex Weyl calculus on the Fock space. This allows us, in particular, to obtain some closed formulas for the Stratonovich-Weyl symbols of the representation operators.

The Stratonovich–Weyl correspondence for one-dimensional kinematical groups

Manuel Gadella, Miguel A. Martín, Luis Miguel Nieto +1 more

The Stratonovich–Weyl correspondence is a restatement of the Moyal quantization where the phase space is a manifold and where a group of transformations acts on it transitively. The first and most important step is to define a mapping from the manifold into the set of self-adjoint operators on a Hilbert space, under suitable conditions. This mapping is called a Stratonovich–Weyl kernel. The construction of this mapping is discussed on coadjoint orbits of the one-dimensional Galilei, Poincaré, and Newton–Hooke groups as well as the two-dimensional Euclidean group.

Moyal quantum mechanics: the semiclassical Heisenberg dynamics

T. A. Osborn, Molzahn, F H

The Moyal description of quantum mechanics, based on the Wigner-Weyl isomorphism between operators and symbols, provides a comprehensive phase space representation of dynamics. The Weyl symbol image of the Heisenberg picture evolution operator is regular in ħ and so presents a preferred foundation for semiclassical analysis. Its semiclassical expansion "coefficients," acting on symbols that represent observables, are simple, globally defined (phase space) differential operators constructed in terms of the classical flow. The first of two presented methods introduces a cluster-graph expansion for the symbol of an exponentiated operator, which extends Groenewold′s formula for the Weyl product of two symbols and has ħ as its natural small parameter. This Poisson bracket based cluster expansion determines the Jacobi equations for the semiclassical expansion of "quantum trajectories." Their Green function solutions construct the regular ħ ⇓ 0 asymptotic series for the Heisenberg-Weyl evolution map. The second method directly substitutes such a series into the Moyal equation of motion and determines the ħ coefficients recursively. In contrast to the WKB approximation for propagators, the Heisenberg-Weyl description of evolution involves no essential singularity in ħ, no Hamilton-Jacobi equation to solve for the action, and no multiple trajectories, caustics, or Maslov indices.

Projective representations of the inhomogeneous symplectic group: Quantum symmetry origins of the Heisenberg commutation relations

Stephen G. Low

Quantum symmetries that leave invariant physical transition probabilities are described by projective representations of Lie groups. The mathematical theory of projected representations for topologically connected Lie groups is reviewed and applied to the inhomogeneous symplectic group ISp(2n). The projective representations are given in terms of the ordinary unitary representations of the central extension of the group with respect to its first homotopy group direct product with its second cohomology group. The second cohomology group of ISp(2n) is the one dimensional abelian group and the central extension turns the 2n dimension abelian normal subgroup of translations of ISp(2n) into the Weyl-Heisenberg group. This is the quantum symmetry origin of the Heisenberg commutation relations that are the Hermitian representation of the Lie algebra of the Weyl-Heisenberg group.

Moyal-like form of the star product for generalizedSU(2) Stratonovich-Weyl symbols

A. B. Klimov, P.B. Espinoza

The star product is the basic tool used in the phase-space formulation of quantum mechanics. We find a differential form of the star product for a class of \mbox{$s$-parametrized} SU (2) Stratonovich-Weyl symbols which appear in the phase-space representation of spin-like systems. The limit of large spin is considered and the asymptotic form of the differential operator defining the star product is obtained.
