Abstract

We study nonperturbatively the entanglement generation between two and three emitters in an exactly solvable relativistic variant of the spin-boson model, equivalent to the time-independent formulation of the Unruh-DeWitt detector model. We show that (i) (highly) entangled states of the two emitters require interactions very deep into the light cone, (ii) the mass of the field can generically improve the entanglement generation, (iii) while it is possible to find regimes with genuine Greenberger--Horne--Zeilinger-like tripartite entanglement, it is difficult find regimes where tripartite entanglement can be easily shown to be significant or classified. Result (iii), in particular, suggests that probing the multipartite entanglement of a relativistic quantum field nonperturbatively requires either different probe-based techniques or variants of the Unruh-DeWitt model. Along the way, we provide the regularity conditions for the $N$-emitter model to have well-defined ground states in the Fock space.

Extraction of genuine tripartite entanglement from the vacuum

Krzysztof Lorek, Daniel Pęcak, Eric G. Brown +1 more

We demonstrate and characterize the extraction of genuine tripartite entanglement from the vacuum of a periodic cavity field. That is, three probe quantum systems (detectors) can become both bipartitely and tripartitely entangled without coming into causal contact, by means of interaction with a common quantum field. We do this by using an oscillator-detector model that forgoes the need for perturbation theory and which instead is solved exactly. We find that the extraction of tripartite entanglement is considerably easier than that of bipartite. As a secondary result, we also compare a periodic cavity with one that has Dirichlet boundary conditions. We find that the extraction of both bipartite and tripartite entanglement is more easily achieved using the former case.

Genuine multipartite concurrence for entanglement of Dirac fields in noninertial frames

Wen-Chao Qiang, Guo-Hua Sun, Qian Dong +1 more

We apply genuine multipartite entanglement concurrence to investigate entanglement properties of Dirac fields in noninertial frames. We present analytical concurrences for bipartite and tripartite entanglements simultaneously, which enriches previous results. We note that the entanglement of the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-like state is degraded by the Unruh effect, but this entangled system always remains entangled to a degree and can be used in quantum teleportation between parties in relatively uniform acceleration. We find that all tripartite subsystems in noninertial frames are monogamous in that they all satisfy Coffmann-Kundu-Wootters monogamous inequality. We also find two useful relations regarding concurrences.

Instant extraction of nonperturbative tripartite entanglement

Diana Méndez-Avalos, Kensuke Gallock‐Yoshimura, Laura J. Henderson +1 more

It is shown nonperturbatively that if three initially separable two-level detectors each interact with a quantum scalar field at a single instant of time, then the final state of the detectors can contain genuine tripartite entanglement of the GHZ type between the detectors. This result holds for general spatial configurations of the detectors over a broad range of their spatial separations and intervals between their couplings.

Genuine multipartite entanglement in the cluster-Ising model

S. M. Giampaolo, Beatrix C. Hiesmayr

We evaluate and analyze the exact value of a measure for local genuine tripartite entanglement in the one-dimensional cluster-Ising model for spin- particles. This model is attractive since cluster states are considered to be relevant sources for applying quantum algorithms and the model is experimentally feasible. Whereas bipartite entanglement is identically vanishing, we find that genuine tripartite entanglement is non zero in the anti-ferromagnetic phase and also in the cluster phase well before the critical point. We prove that the measure of local genuine tripartite entanglement captures all the properties of the symmetry-protected topological quantum phase transition. Remarkably, we find that the amount of genuine tripartite entanglement is independent of whether the ground states satisfy or break the symmetries of the Hamiltonian. We provide also strong evidences that local genuine tripartite entanglement represents the unique non-vanishing genuine multipartite entanglement.

Genuine multipartite entanglement in time

Simon Milz, Cornelia Spee, Zhen‐Peng Xu +3 more

While spatial quantum correlations have been studied in great detail, much less is known about the genuine quantum correlations that can be exhibited by temporal processes. Employing the quantum comb formalism, processes in time can be mapped onto quantum states, with the crucial difference that temporal correlations have to satisfy causal ordering, while their spatial counterpart is not constrained in the same way. Here, we exploit this equivalence and use the tools of multipartite entanglement theory to provide a comprehensive picture of the structure of correlations that (causally ordered) temporal quantum processes can display. First, focusing on the case of a process that is probed at two points in time -- which can equivalently be described by a tripartite quantum state -- we provide necessary as well as sufficient conditions for the presence of bipartite entanglement in different splittings. Next, we connect these scenarios to the previously studied concepts of quantum memory, entanglement breaking superchannels, and quantum steering, thus providing both a physical interpretation for entanglement in temporal quantum processes, and a determination of the resources required for its creation. Additionally, we construct explicit examples of W-type and GHZ-type genuinely multipartite entangled two-time processes and prove that genuine multipartite entanglement in temporal processes can be an emergent phenomenon. Finally, we show that genuinely entangled processes across multiple times exist for any number of probing times.

Quantum steering of GHZ and W states in relativistic motion

Si-Han Shang, Shu-Min Wu

Abstract We investigate tripartite quantum steering dynamics in a three-Unruh–DeWitt-detector system, examining both $$1\rightarrow 2$$ 1 → 2 (i.e., from Alice to Bob and Charlie) and $$2\rightarrow 1$$ 2 → 1 steering (i.e., from Alice and Bob to Charlie) configurations under two paradigmatic entangled initial states: the Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) and W states. Our analysis demonstrates that $$1\rightarrow 2$$ 1 → 2 steering exhibits better resistance to Unruh decoherence than $$2\rightarrow 1$$ 2 → 1 steering. Notably, the $$1\rightarrow 2$$ 1 → 2 steering of the W state displays a non-monotonic dependence on the acceleration parameter, indicating that the Unruh effect can, in certain regimes, enhance quantum steering. These results suggest that the Unruh effect plays a dual role in tripartite quantum systems, as it can both enhance and degrade quantum steering. Consequently, moving beyond the conventional interpretation of the Unruh effect as merely a source of decoherence, our study provides a new insight by exploring tripartite quantum steering in a relativistic setting.
