Abstract

Bipartite and multipartite quantum steerings are significant resources for various quantum tasks, such as ultrasecure multi-user quantum network, one-site-trusted quantum communication, high-fidelity quantum computation, etc. A flexible steering manipulation scheme of five down-converted Hermitian Gaussian modes generated from an optical parametric oscillator by using a spatial structured pump is presented. In our scheme, not only the direction and types of the bipartite steering, but also different situations of multipartite steering, can be manipulated effectively, by adjusting the pump proportions with a spatial light modulator. In addition, stricter genuine pentapartite steering (only one site is trusted) can also be achieved by making the pump proportions as balanced as possible. Our scheme is versatile and experimentally feasible and offers new insights into the manipulation of steering, especially multipartite steering, which is valuable in many special quantum tasks.

Manipulation of diverse quantum correlations based on a hybrid optomagnomechanical system

Xiaomin Liu, Rongguo Yang, Jing Zhang +1 more

Flexible manipulation of quantum correlation resources enables the implementation of diverse quantum tasks based on hybrid quantum networks, where atom-magnon and optomagnonic entanglements and steerings play important roles. In this work, we propose an effective scheme to generate and manipulate quantum entanglements and steerings based on a hybrid optomagnomechanical system, which is composed of a polarizer, an optical cavity with YIG bridge as one end, and an atomic ensemble in it. According to the results of the parameter dependence of various quantum correlations, we can selectively generate bipartite and genuine tripartite entanglements and deterministically manipulate the concrete situation of bipartite, multipartite steerings, and collective pentapartite steering, by adjusting the polarization direction of the driving laser and the Tavis-Cummings coupling strength. Our all-optical controlled scheme is flexible, convenient, compact, and experimentally feasible, because multiple coupling channels can be tuned simultaneously. This work provides a new perspective for implementing specialized quantum tasks, such as hierarchical ultra-secure multi-user quantum communications.

Tripartite all-optical quantum steering swapping based on four-wave mixing process

Xiaoling Li, Shuqin Zhai, Kui Liu

Quantum resource swapping is crucial for establishing quantum networks and achieving efficient quantum communication and it allows quantum resources to be shared and allocated between nodes in a quantum network, thereby enhancing network flexibility and quantum information processing capabilities. Quantum steering is a special type of quantum correlation that exhibits unique asymmetry compared with quantum entanglement and Bell nonlocality. This asymmetry enables quantum steering swapping to establish one-way or two-way asymmetry quantum steering between two independent optical modes, which is crucial for constructing asymmetric quantum networks. In this work, an all-optical quantum steering swapping scheme is proposed based on tripartite entangled state and bipartite entangled state. The all-optical scheme does not involve optic-electro conversion nor electro-optic conversion, but utilizes a low-noise, high-bandwidth four-wave mixing process to achieve the function of Bell state measurement in traditional schemes without measurement. After the steering swapping operation, the two originally independent entangled states without direct interaction generate quantum steering. In this work, two swapping schemes in the four-wave mixing processes, combined with linear beam splitter and nonlinear beam splitter, are investigated. By analyzing the steering characteristics of the output modes, both schemes exhibit varieties of multipartite steering types. By adjusting the transmissivity of the linear beam splitter and the gain of the four-wave mixing process, the steering relationship can be flexibly manipulated to achieve one-way and two-way asymmetry steering. This provides new possibilities for one-way quantum communication and quantum information processing, making the utilization of quantum resources more efficient and controllable. Through in-depth analysis of the steering characteristics after swapping, it is found that compared with the linear beam splitter scheme, the nonlinear beam splitter scheme not only significantly improves the capability of quantum steering, but also allows for more flexible manipulation of monogamy relations of quantum steering. By optimizing the gain parameters of the nonlinear beam splitter, the precise manipulation of the monogamy relations can be achieved over a wider range. This not only expands broader application prospects for information processing and quantum communication in quantum networks, but also lays an important foundation for building efficient and secure quantum information processing systems.

Hexapartite steering based on a four-wave-mixing process with a spatially structured pump

Yunyun Liang, Rongguo Yang, Jing Zhang +1 more

Multipartite Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering has been widely studied, for realizing safer quantum communication. The steering properties of six spatially separated beams from the four-wave-mixing process with a spatially structured pump are investigated. Behaviors of all (1+i)/(i+1)-mode (i=1,2,3) steerings are understandable, if the role of the corresponding relative interaction strengths are taken into account. Moreover, stronger collective multipartite steerings including five modes can be obtained in our scheme, which has potential applications in ultra-secure multiuser quantum networks when the issue of trust is critical. By further discussing about all monogamy relations, it is noticed that the type-IV monogamy relations, which are naturally included in our model, are conditionally satisfied. Matrix representation is used to express the steerings for the first time, which is very useful to understand the monogamy relations intuitively. Different steering properties obtained in this compact phase-insensitive scheme have potential applications for different kinds of quantum communication tasks.

Phase-selective tripartite entanglement and asymmetric Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering in squeezed optomechanics

Ya‐Feng Jiao, Jie Wang, Dong-Yang Wang +6 more

The generation and manipulation of multipartite entanglement and EPR steering in macroscopic systems not only play a fundamental role in exploring the nature of quantum mechanics, but are also at the core of current developments of various nascent quantum technologies. Here we report a theoretical method using squeezing-phase-controlled quantum noise flows to selectively generate and manipulate quantum entanglement and asymmetric EPR steering in a nonlinear $χ^{(2)}$ whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) optomechanical resonator. We show that by pumping the $χ^{(2)}$ nonlinear medium with two-photon optical fields and broadband squeezed lights, a pair of counterpropagating squeezed optical modes could be introduced to the WGM resonator, each coupled with an independent squeezed vacuum reservoir. This configuration could enable squeezing-phase-controlled light-reservoir interaction for each squeezed optical mode, providing a flexible tool for tailoring asymmetric optical noise flows in the counterpropagating modes. Based on this unique feature, it is found that with the injection of asymmetric noise flows, the generation of various types of bipartite and tripartite entanglement become phase-dependent and thus they can be produced in an asymmetric way. More excitingly, it is also found that by further properly adjusting the squeezing parameters, the overall asymmetry of EPR steering can also be stepwise driven from no-way regime, one-way regime to two-way regime. These findings, holding promise for preparing rich types of entangled quantum resources with asymmetric features, may have potential applications in the area of secure quantum information processing such as quantum secure direct communication and one-way quantum computing.

Asymmetric Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen steering manipulating among multipartite entangled states

Shuqin Zhai, Nan Yuan, Kui Liu

Asymmetric Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) steering means the ability of one party to nonlocally “steer” the state in the other side through local measurements. The asymmetric property of EPR steering provides adequate security in one-sided device-independent secure quantum communication protocols. In this paper, we theoretically investigate the asymmetric EPR steering schemes between two subsystems of multipartite entangled states by an asymmetric modulation method. Two schemes, including tripartite entangled state to bipartite steering and quadripartite entangled state to tripartite steering, are investigated. By reconstructing the covariance matrix of continuous variable multipartite Gaussian states, we quantify the steerability of manipulating two different subsystems and demonstrate the EPR steering parameter versus various types of states’ parameters. Our work provides a reference for asymmetric quantum information processing and enriches resources for secure quantum networks.
