Abstract

In this study, we propose a theoretical scheme for achieving long-distance Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states in a driven hybrid quantum system. By applying a microwave field to the YIG sphere, we utilize the Kerr effect to induce the squeezing of the magnon, thereby achieving an exponential enhancement of the coupling strength between the magnonic mode and spins, and we also discuss in detail the relationship between the squeezing parameter and the external microwave field. By means of the Schrieffer-Wolff transformation, the magnonic mode can be adiabatically eliminated under the large detuning condition, thereby establishing a robust effective interaction between spins essential for realizing the desired entangled state. Numerical simulations indicate that the squeezing parameter can be effectively increased by adjusting the driving field, and our proposal can generate high-fidelity Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states even in dissipative systems. Additionally, we extensively discuss the influence of inhomogeneous broadening on the entangled states, and the experimental feasibility shows that our results provide possibilities in the realms of quantum networking and quantum computing.

Generation of Long‐Distance Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger States in a Driven Hybrid Quantum System

Xin Zeng, M LI, Bo Tian +3 more

ABSTRACT We propose a theoretical protocol for generating long‐distance Greenberger‐Horne‐Zeilinger states in a driven hybrid quantum system. The system consists of a central magnon coupled to multiple nitrogen–vacancy center spins positioned at a distance from the surface of the yttrium‐iron‐garnet sphere. A significant enhancement in the effective magnon‐spin coupling strength is achieved by driving the magnon with Kerr term. We analyze the dependence of the squeezing parameter on the driving field and adiabatically eliminate the magnonic mode under large detuning conditions via the Schrieffer–Wolff transformation, thereby establishing an effective all‐to‐all one‐axis‐twisting type spin–spin interaction essential for Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger generation. Numerical simulations show that multi‐qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states can be achieved even in the presence of dissipation. Furthermore, we investigate the impact of both inhomogeneous frequency broadening and non‐uniform coupling strengths between the magnon and spins. A cavity protection mechanism is introduced to mitigate frequency inhomogeneous broadening, while the tolerance to coupling inhomogeneity is also quantitatively evaluated.

Magnon squeezing by two-tone driving of a qubit in cavity-magnon-qubit systems

Qi Guo, Jiong Cheng, Huatang Tan +1 more

We propose a scheme for preparing magnon squeezed states in a hybrid cavity-magnon-qubit system. The system consists of a microwave cavity that simultaneously couples to a magnon mode of a macroscopic yttrium-iron-garnet sphere via the magnetic-dipole interaction and to a transmon-type superconducting qubit via the electric-dipole interaction. By far detuning from the magnon-qubit system, the microwave cavity is adiabatically eliminated. The magnon mode and the qubit then get effectively coupled via the mediation of virtual photons of the microwave cavity. We show that by driving the qubit with two microwave fields and by appropriately choosing the drive frequencies and strengths, magnonic parametric amplification can be realized, which leads to magnon quadrature squeezing with the noise below vacuum fluctuation. We provide optimal conditions for achieving magnon squeezing, and moderate squeezing can be obtained using currently available parameters. The generated squeezed states are of a magnon mode involving more than ${10}^{18}$ spins and thus macroscopic quantum states. This work may find promising applications in quantum information processing and high-precision measurements based on magnons and in the study of macroscopic quantum states.

Magnon-magnon entanglement generation between two remote interaction-free optomagnonic systems via optical Bell-state measurement

Abstract Finding new strategies for the generation and preservation of quantum resources, e.g. entanglement between spatially separated macroscopic systems enables reliable and fertile platforms to study both fundamental quantum physics and fruitful applications such as quantum networks and distant quantum information processing. Here, we want to address how to generate magnon-magnon entanglement (MME) in an optomagnonic system based on the optical Bell-state measurement. To do so, we consider a hybrid optomagnonic system comprising of two identical, but distant dissipative microwave cavities, each containing a ferromagnetic YIG sphere and a superconducting qubit. Besides, each subsystem is driven via an external laser field. We numerically simulate the solution of the corresponding master equation and discuss the time-dependent as well as the steady state entanglement between the distant magnon modes at different interaction regime. Also, the fidelity of the generated entangled states is studied in detail. Generally, the dissipative environmental effects plague the MME, however, it is possible to generate a considerable amount of MME even at the steady state regime. Also, the results show that the robust MME may be enhanced by applying a relatively strong external pump decreasing the relative magnon damping rate as well as increasing the relative qubit-photon coupling strength, while some other parameters involved in the model, i.e. the atomic damping rate and detuning parameter do not considerably affect the amplitude (the maximum value) of MME. Exceptionally, although the magnon damping rate decreases the amount of MME, the entanglement stability takes place in a longer time interval in the strong magnonic damping regime. Moreover, the maximum of the steady state entanglement may be obtained in the moderate magnon-photon coupling regime provided that the system is driven by strong external pumps. Furthermore, the system can generate robust MME at steady state, especially in the small detuning regime. Our further investigations show that the system can provide relatively high-fidelity magnonic entangled states even in the presence of inevitable environmental effects. The proposed model offers an attractive platform for the generation of quantum resources to establish long-distance quantum networks based on magnonic and photonic systems.

Strong long-range spin-spin coupling with Kerr magnon interface.

Wei Xiong, Miao Tian, Guo-Qiang Zhang +3 more

Strong long-range coupling between distant spin qubits is crucial for solid-state quantum information processing. However, achieving such a strong spin-spin coupling remains a well-known challenge. To this end, we propose an efficient method to realize a strong coupling between two distant spins via the Kerr effect of the magnons in a yttrium-iron-garnet sphere. By applying a strong microwave field on the magnon, the Kerr effect of the magnon is converted to its squeezing effect charaterized by the squeezing parameter. Thus, the coupling betweem the spins and the squeezed-magnon can be exponentially enhanced, which in turn allows the spin-magnon distance greatly improved from nanometer to micrometer. By considering the virtual excitation of the squeezd-magnon in the dispersive regime, strong spin-spin coupling mediated by the squeezed-magnon can be achieved. As applications, remote quantum state transfer, nonlocal two-qubit iSWAP gate with high fidelity and remote quantum charger-battery device are investigated. Our proposal provides a potential platform to perform distant quantum information tasks and build the thermodynamic device with weakly coupled spin-magnon systems.

Generation of Bell and Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states from a hybrid qubit-photon-magnon system

Shi-fan Qi, Jun Jing

We propose a level-resolved protocol in a hybrid architecture for connecting a superconducting qubit and a magnon mode contained within a microwave cavity (resonator) to generate local and global entangled states, enabling a wide range of applications in quantum communication, quantum metrology, and quantum information processing. Exploiting the high-degree controllability in such a hybrid qubit-photon-magnon system, we derive the effective Hamiltonians at the second-order resonant points by virtue of the strong general Rabi interactions between the resonator and the qubit and between the resonator and the magnon. Consequently, we can efficiently generate the Bell states of the photon-magnon and the qubit-magnon subsystems and the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state of the whole hybrid system. The robustness of our protocol is checked against a nonvanishing tuning time of system frequency and the environmental noise by the Lindblad master equation. Our work makes this hybrid platform of high-degree controllability a high-fidelity candidate for preparing the multiple maximally entangled states.

Exponentially Enhanced Tripartite Coupling in Quantum Nonlinear Magnonics

Chen, Xue-Chun, Zijie Wang, Zheng, Sheng-Bo +2 more

Strong and controllable tripartite interactions play a pivotal role in quantum information and nonlinear quantum optics, yet challenging to realize. In this work, we propose a hybrid system consisting of a nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center coupled to Kerr magnons (magnons with Kerr nonlinearity) in two yttrium-iron-garnet spheres. By adiabatically eliminating the ground state of the NV qutrit in the dispersive regime, an effective tripartite interaction among magnons and an NV qubit encoded in its excited states is obtained. In the strong driving limit, Kerr magnons can be linearized and give rise to degenerate parametric amplification for squeezing magnons. As a result, both the tripartite interaction and cooperativity are exponentially enhanced twice, which is about $\exp(ξ)$ times than schemes only involving single-squeezing. Hence, our proposal is more experimentally feasible because modest squeezing parameter is sufficient. With this amplified tripartite coupling strength, the system dynamics are greatly accelerated, leading to fast generation of tripartite entanglement. In addition, noise-resilient perfect magnon blockade can be achieved, well predicted by both the analytical approach and numerical simulation with quantum master equation. Our results suggest that the NV center represents a promising interface for engineering many-body interactions in quantum magnonics, offering a versatile platform for exploring fundamental quantum phenomena such as entanglement and correlations.
