Abstract

We study the asymmetric simple exclusion process with nondiagonal boundary terms under a specific constraint. A symmetric chiral basis is constructed and a special string solution of the Bethe ansatz equations corresponding to the steady state is presented. Using the coordinate Bethe ansatz method, we derive a concise expression for the steady state. The current and density profile in the steady state are also studied.

Construction of a coordinate Bethe ansatz for the asymmetric simple exclusion process with open boundaries

Damien Simon

The asymmetric simple exclusion process with open boundaries, which is a very simple model of out-of-equilibrium statistical physics, is known to be integrable. In particular, its spectrum can be described in terms of Bethe roots. The large deviation function of the current can be obtained as well by diagonalizing a modified transition matrix, which is still integrable: the spectrum of this new matrix can also be described in terms of Bethe roots for special values of the parameters. However, due to the algebraic framework used to write the Bethe equations in previous works, the nature of the excitations and the full structure of the eigenvectors remained unknown. This paper explains why the eigenvectors of the modified transition matrix are physically relevant, gives an explicit expression for the eigenvectors and applies it to the study of atypical currents. It also shows how the coordinate Bethe ansatz developed for the excitations leads to a simple derivation of the Bethe equations and of the validity conditions of this ansatz. All the results obtained by de Gier and Essler are recovered and the approach gives a physical interpretation of the exceptional points. The overlap of this approach with other tools such as the matrix ansatz is also discussed. The method that is presented here may be not specific to the asymmetric exclusion process and may be applied to other models with open boundaries to find similar exceptional points.

Spectrum of the Open Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process with Arbitrary Boundary Parameters

Fa-Kai Wen, Zhan-Ying Yang, Shuai Cui +2 more

We study the one-dimensional asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) with generic open boundaries (including current-counting deformation), and obtain the exact solutions of this ASEP via the off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method. In particular, numerical results for the small size asymmetric simple exclusion process indicate that the spectrum obtained by the Bethe ansatz equations is complete. Moreover, we present the eigenvalue of the totally asymmetric exclusion process and the corresponding Bethe ansatz equations.

T - Q relations for the integrable two-species asymmetric simple exclusion process with open boundaries

Xin Zhang, Fa-Kai Wen, Jan de Gier

Abstract We study the integrable two-species asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) for two inequivalent types of open, non particle conserving boundary conditions. Employing the nested off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method, we construct for each case the corresponding homogeneous - relations and obtain the Bethe ansatz equations. Numerical checks for small system sizes show completeness for some Bethe ansatz equations, and partial completeness for others.

Bethe Ansatz Solution of the Asymmetric Exclusion Process with Open Boundaries

Jan de Gier, Fabian H. L. Eßler

We derive the Bethe ansatz equations describing the complete spectrum of the transition matrix of the partially asymmetric exclusion process with the most general open boundary conditions. For totally asymmetric diffusion we calculate the spectral gap, which characterizes the approach to stationarity at large times. We observe boundary induced crossovers in and between massive, diffusive, and Kardar-Parisi-Zhang scaling regimes.

Matrix coordinate Bethe Ansatz: applications to XXZ and ASEP models

Nicolas Crampé, E. Ragoucy, Damien Simon

We present the construction of the full set of eigenvectors of the open asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) and XXZ models with special constraints on the boundaries. The method combines both recent constructions of coordinate Bethe Ansatz and the old method of matrix Ansatz specific to the ASEP. This 'matrix coordinate Bethe Ansatz' can be viewed as a non-commutative coordinate Bethe Ansatz, the non-commutative part being related to the algebra appearing in the matrix Ansatz.

Does the integrability condition on the boundary parameters of the asymmetric exclusion process contradict the matrix product Ansatz

Boyka Aneva

This paper is due to the question whether with the constraint from the Bethe ansatz solution on the ASEP boundary parameters the matrix product ansazt fails to produce the stationary state. We discuss applicability of the matrix product ansatz from the point of view of the tridiagonal boundary algebra which reveals deep symmetry properties of the ASEP. We argue that the Bethe ansatz integrability constraint is the defining condition for a finite dimensional representation of the boundary algebra when the system reaches a steady state satisfying detailed balance.
